too bad you didn't raise your sons to be more kind to you.

No apology necessary. I'm just saying it would be essentially impossible for me to get a CCW in SD. If you could pull some strings with Gore, or kick him in the dick or something, and make it legal for me to defend my wife and kids while out and about...I'd give you a p938 free of charge. That's a win-win in my book. You get your sought-after carry pistol and I actually get to carry one. I'd figure out a way to conceal a full size 1911 if I could legally do so.
Good luck! The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Your son could buy the gun and at some point sell or gift it to you, as I understand the law he cant receive payment before he purchases the gun. Also he cant fill out the FFL form indicating he is buying the gun for someone else. IMO its best to keep discussions of this type off the internet.I have a specific need for a micro 9mm handgun and the Sig P938 fits the bill perfectly. Of course it is not on the roster and all the ones in this state sell for $1100-$1200 used if you can find them (very rare). My son(s) in Utah can buy them used for $500-$600 all day long.
So either I talk my boys into spending $500-$600 dollars on me (yea right
) for Christmas and shipping it to an FFL or I compromise and buy a P238 and carry an inferior round.Comment

People have to pay $3 for 1 avocado in other states.
So you have to pay a little more for off-roster in CA. No big deal.
It just means you are way more advanced technologically than other Californians with roster guns.

Sheesh, it's not just guns we can't have. I tried buying an exhaust for my motorcycle only to be told they can ship to ALL states except CA. And the muffler is made in CA and there is no smog test for bikes.
Thankfully I picked up P938 before the SSE window closed.Comment

OP, good choice of gun. My SIG P938 is my EDC. But I had to wait until I got out of CA too. I highly recommend it to WIN231.Comment

If they live is a free state in which they can buy a used firearm from a private party, then there is no issue in regards to their not being the actual buyer/transferee as they don't have to fill out a 4473. They can then sell it to you.I have a specific need for a micro 9mm handgun and the Sig P938 fits the bill perfectly. I don't believe the intrafamilial transfer requires that it be a gift. It is only if they are buying it from a dealer and then sending it does it need to be a gift so that they qualify as being the actual buyer/transferee. You would have to pay sales tax on it if you buy it.Kemasa.

The CA unsafe handgun laws are a prime example of what happens when firearm owners do not stand together and only look out for their own self-interests.
The only reason it passed the CA legislature was because CA "pro-gun" groups sold out to get exemptions for their special interests. Once they sold out, it was sold to the public as "common sense" legislation because "pro-gun" groups supported it.
LE unions sold out for LE exemptions. [PC 32000(b)(4)]
Cowboy action shooting groups sold out for single-action revolver exemptions. [PC 32100(a)]
CA movie/tv entertainment industry sold out for prop master exemptions. [PC 32110(h)]Last edited by Quiet; 10-09-2017, 8:27 PM.sigpic
