I do this as well, they're great target stands with easy clean-up.

They all seemed nice enough though a bit wild but was disappointing to see the volume of trash they left which I cleaned up by the way.
My experience has been that this is the root of the problem. Used to see the same thing when I lived in that area and I see the same thing happening here in NV. Not going to cast stones though because I'm not sure I was any different at that age.

After reading all this, something came to mind and may work. If calgun members and friends were to pick a weekend, both days Saturday and Sunday. To pick a range and notify BLM or private party the we are having a range clean up weekend on whatever day and we close the range only for calgun members to clean up first and shoot later. That way we build good bridges with the land owner's and piss people of because the closures. Maybe BLM will provide a dump truck and maybe a small tractor. Before anyone jumps on this idea with negativity. I'm thinking long term to preserve our shooting areas. Maybe other shooting organizations can do the same. And maybe we can take a wild chance and invite a few politician's to show them we are not as crazy as they like to believe. Just not hillary.

            Thanks for stealing MY idea

I thought about sorta doing it on my own but realized it's not smart to piss off people when I'd be out...

I'd be happy if there was someplace I could dump trash collected from a cleanup without having to pay the tipping fees. The Truckee dump is on my way home from shooting but I'm not too thrilled about paying $10-20 per load to get rid of someone else's trash.

This is really not a new problem. I'm 54 now but back when I was a teenager, my father used to take me to the old Texas Canyon outside of San Fernando. I still look back at those pictures of all the trash and junk in the canyon and it is no wonder they closed it to shooting.

I'm up in the Mojave area now and over the last 6 years or so, our canyons that we shoot in up here have become a dumping ground as well. Not a month goes by that someone doesn't bring a TV, barbeque, window frame, mother-in-law or any other stuff they think they can shot at and leave behind.

Mostly they leave their Jack-in-the-Box breakfast trash and all their empty ammo boxes laying on the ground. I really don't know why people love to trash the desert but it is truly sad.

Some time back, Friends of NRA cleaned up a few canyons just north of Rosamond in the Gem Hill area. They even put up a sign that the area was going to be maintained by same. Not two weeks after, someone broke the sign down. Two weeks after that, someone burned the sign.

I truly makes no sense at all.

It does. Most people are first rate @-holes and don't give a sh*t about anyone or anything else.

to be honest, i assume that these are the majority of gun owners in CA.

they own guns, but don't really care about the 2nd amendment nor are they decent people. they just like guns cause it goes bang. they wouldn't care if the place is closed down, they will just move to a different spot, or even a spot that isn't even legal for them and shoot.

Some *******s literally burnt up my shooting spot. Caused a wildfire. Now they are talking about shutting it down, permanent.
