My opinion also.We pick up and save brass and steel at all the shooting spots off the 50 in El Dorado national forest. We take as many bags of trash out as we can. We were using the dumpsters at the ranger station in Pollock pines when its open. Some of the trash is from local tweekers that drag dump and shoot anything possible. Do the best you can do and drag out what you can all you can do. Thanks for cleaning up after others.

Following weekend I took my oldest son to take a look at our handy work and rolled up on 4 shooters who were shotgunning our sign and using the trash can for a target stand.

When something is free its not respected.
i would have shotgunned their cars while driving away.

Whenever I go out, I bring extra trash bags and boxes. At the end of the day, I leave with more targets than I came with. Every time I go, the desert gets cleaner. And I can tell that others do the same thing. One group of douche bags makes a mess, and it takes a few visits from honorable people to clean it up.

I’ve seen virtually all of San Diego county areas used for recreational shooting closed over the last few years due to shooters leaving trash behind.

Most egregious...a refrigerator shot full of holes, still full of food, rotting away. Truly disgusting. Who does this???

As a horse owner I can totally see his point. Nobody likes to tromp through poop while enjoying the wilderness, or other public trails for that matter.
A responsible equine owner carries a small rake when on public trails, and actually dismounts to clean up when needed.

An up hill battle I am afraid. Some weeks back I was dirt biking at Forest Hill and observed about ten 20 somethings hanging near my location in the staging area most of the day. When they left the area, it was trashed with bottles and food containers etc. they had left.

They all seemed nice enough though a bit wild but was disappointing to see the volume of trash they left which I cleaned up by the way.

These will be the folks who finally force public lands agencies to close it off to any kind of shooting for good.

Like others who contributed to this thread we always leave an area better than we found it.
That said one only needs to look at any parking lot in a mall or Walmart to see trash thrown around. How much litter is picked up along freeways and after these public parades .

If public money is used to pick up after parades maybe government at some level should provide dumpsters for shooters !

Can't the Blm setup a system like campsites?

For instance, Big Basin camp grounds and all near me are "crumb clean".

To avoid making/leaving a mess I use political roadside election signs. Slap a shoot-n-c on them and blast away. No cleanup. Easy placement. I usually bring a few and give some away.

An added bonus is you get to shoot at democrats!

Not a bad idea at all because after the election they're useless anyway.

Personally I don't care what people shoot, provided they clean it up.

The clean-up seems to be the issue...
