    Posting your collection on calguns

Ok, I have to ask. Why do people here post their entire collection on their sigs or post photos of their opened gunsafes?
It just seems odd to put out the info out there for the whole world to see.

its the same as posting questions referring to those guns. if i ask a question about my AR's BCG, people know i have it. if i post a picture, people know i have it. its what the internet is all about

I do it and I am not afraid. If someone wants to try to steal my guns, they better bring the heavy equipment and at least 8 strong men and plan on being at my house for at least 6 hours and pray that I am not home when they do decide to show up. LOL.

It's really no different than posting your collection of motorcycles on a motorcycle forum, posting your collection of exotic fish on a reef keeping forum, posting your collection of fine art on an art lovers forum, posting your collection of coins on a coin collectors forum....etc.

I dont foresee gangbangers looking for a target of oppertunity to steal your exotic fish though
I can see someone wanting to jack a motorcycle or coin collection (people still do that?) and guns. Its not tin foil hat bs. Its just asking a question about that posting what you really have.
Here is an alalogy thats a true story.
This Correctional officer one day gets a threat from an inmate. He tells the officer his kids name, the color of his kids hair, his wifes name, the car she drives, the color, the fact that she just dropped the kids off at soccar practice and that someone is watching them. (there may be some deviation from the true story but im not going to look it up) Well if the cop doesnt show up with drugs in a certian time, he is going to make a call to have his family killed. The officer thinks about this and comes back later. Tells the inmate he has the dope and lets him out of the cell. He then kills the inmate in hand to hand combat feeling there was iminent danger to his family. He is found not guilty because of the safety of his family but later is fired.
During the lengthy investigation, it was found out that there was no one watching the family and that the inmate had no connections on the outside. The inmate was though crafty and had nothing but time as he listened to conversations that the officer had with others during a length of time. Knows kids had soccer practice on tuesdays, heard about the new car, heard about the new trim painted on the house. heard that kids get out of school this day. officer was fired for breaching protocol.

Long analogy? This might be paranoia in some of your eyes but there are plenty of lurkers here. Some may not have nothing by time. Eventually knowing in off topic that you drive a certain car which later on learning where you work and is able to get a plate. Or hey, knowing your meeting at this or that FFL and he goes there scoping out your demeanor. Eventually he could know where you live. And although we are all "macho" and would smoke anyone who comes into our homes. We got to sleep sometime. We arnt home 24/7s and our spouses arnt going to be around a gun every waking moment and no matter who the hell you are less your Jerry. There is ALWAYS someone faster than you.
I just heard a horror story from a customer the other day whos buddy is a crazy psycho vet. Unfortunately he wasnt home when douchbags broke in and when they saw the linked ammo on the floor of his garage they wanted what it belong to. Unfortunately his wife got home first and was subjected to torture to open up the safe.
I guess I'm just happy weather people think i have a low point or a stigma or a gold plated GE that shoots diamond studded bullets. Just curious why post your whole damn collection.

There are certain exotic fish that are worth many thousands of dollars on the grey market. Just sayin'.
