I have an opportunity to buy a browning 1919 for $1900. Does not come with a tripod but it does come with a spade grip. My question is that it is an A6 and it has Israeli writings on it. Pictures included. Anyone know what it is? I tried to look it up but not much came up.

Mine is a Saginaw with a .308 Israeli conversion. I got an 8mm barrel for it too.

Does yours come with a pintle and T&E?

The browning side plate is for decorative purposes. There should be more markings if you look on the bottom. Should have builder and serial.

Sounds to be in a4 configuration with a spade grip. A6 is buttstock.

Considering that kits alone are going for around $1400-$1500, the %80 RSPs ~$100 or even more for a %100, plus the cost of rivets, the cost of Build tools, cost to have the semi mods done (unless you did them yourself, and then you be factoring in the value of your time) ... I'd say that $1900 for a complete gun is a very good deal, I doubt you can build one for cheaper...

The price is very good. I paid 1900 for mine years ago. BUT. You have to know what you are getting into. 1919's are not normal guns. It's more like light artillery next to your usual .223 They are old, finicky and not plug and play. You WILL mostly likely need to fiddle with it. Mine took a year to get running right. .308 is very expensive ( I converted mine to shoot 54r for that reason). You will still need to get a pintle and tripod at least. Most folks get german MG42 AA mounts so you don't have to lay on the ground to shoot it.

ALSO, in CA linking more than 10 rounds is a felony! Most places out of state won't even sell you the links. BTW different calibers need different links. Israeli links for your .308 and USGI for the .30-06 So... you are doing all of this just to shoot 10 rounds at a time? The whole point of these things is to shoot belts at a time (unless you happened to have bought and assembled belts for it back in 1999.)

In short, they are really fun (if you have the belts already), they will make you the belle of the ball and star of any range you go to... BUT they are a big commitment to own, maintain and shoot. PM me for more details if you need to or head over to 1919a4.com for more.

Sarco has T&E, pintle, and tripod kits for $350...

Oh yeah, and to add to my previous post... The spade grips alone are worth $300-$400, $1900 is a good price...

it's missing the serial number .. It was probably an %80 RSP with the Saginaw marks put on there for decoration. Any flaming bombs stamped on the top of the LSP?

A true A6 type gun will have the lightweight barrel and matching booster. Either way that is a great price these days. I paid $800 for mine with the bipod, buttstock, linker, and pelican case but that was awhile ago.

They are a lot of fun and a great conversation starter at the range. If you get it, buy one of the excellent condition barrels that Numrich has. If you bugger your barrel and don't have a spare you are out of luck.

As previously stated there should be a maker's name and S.N. on the right side plate somewhere.

The Ohio Rapid Fire guns are considered the lesser quality builds but mine has been working fine for some years now. Yours will be marked.

I cant comment on the price as I bought mine 10 years ago from John McGuire on 1919a4.com.

He built it himself and guarantees it for as long as he is breathing. It cost me $1300.00 if memory serves.

If he is still around and you can get one from him I highly recommend it.

Yes it's a homebuilt gun but as long as it runs good and nothing important is loose it should run fine.

Both of mine are a blast to play with and yes at any range you get gawkers. I need to work on a double mount for one of my AA mounts, along with a crankfire.
