Not exactly true. Shotgun tracers are legal in CA and the CA PC is very clear about that.

Yes. My error. I stand 100% corrected, as it relates to Sly Park, etc.. I called the Forest office today to ask about any bans/restrictions, and they have not heard nor seen nor have issued anything like what BLM has done. The confusion comes in that *some* forestry districts *have* issued bans/restrictions similar to BLM, but again El Dorado National Forest is *not* one of them. (editing my original post to clarify)

Yes. My error. Thank you; I stand corrected and have changed my original post. BLM ban/restriction is in place, but it does NOT affect EDNF. Thanks!

This is amazing news.. thank you for posting that. I just bought a place in Placerville, so that I could be closer to Sly Park.. was in Orangevale. I go there weekly (USMC vet., gotta have my "fix" as often as possible) and love the place. But when I saw the news the other night I was devestated. Reading your post just made my day man.. see you up there!

I'm currently looking for a home between Placerville and Pollock Pines for the same reason.

Folks, OUR Freedoms are being infringed. I have lived less than about 8 miles from Sly Park for 30 years. BLM Has been closing more and more "PUBLIC" Lands for years. We used to go dirt bike riding with my boys. A lady owns a big piece of Land right on the other Side. She didn't like the noise, but the Dirt Bike Park had been there for years before she came. She kept complaining until BLM used the Drought, overgrowth from Rain, etc., etc. to keep all trails closed in the Rock Creek area just outside of town off the Main Drag. Now there are very little trails available that anyone is able to use. I have seen it also right next to Sly Park just down from past the two bridges going South East towards Kirkwood. That area was totally closed to shooters and off roading completely some 15 or so years ago and Green Sticker Money used to build a huge Parkin lot, Showers and Restroom Facilities for Equestrian, Hikers and bicyclist. That was some of the best Trail riding in all of Eldorado County. My boys and I have ridden from outside of that area all the way to the beginning of the Rubicon Trail. They were and have been threatening to close the Rubicon Trail for years but they are organized and have regular clean ups, meetings to brainstorm regarding public outreach, membership, strategizing to beet the enviroterrorist at theatre oqn game etc. The days of us just being able to go use our Public Lands without people getting off their butts to do their part are long gone. BLM will be using this same strategy to keep shooters out of the Public Lands as they have done all off roading and especially dirt bikes. My youngest son who was maybe 8, went to Forest Hill to go riding about 15 years ago. They had just passed the Law that the Nose Lavel could be no higher than I believe it had graduated to 91 decibels at that time. It had started higher "To give the public a chance to Comply." We had just pulled in and their were 2 officers standing outside our doors with hands on Guns ready to draw if I or my 8 year old moved. Needless to say, He was scared to death. I said what is this about officers? They wanted to check the noise level of our bikes before we even got them out of the truck. I could have sat on my bike in my truck all day legally if I wanted to with it running and if it wasn't for my 8 year old with me, you can bet I would have called 911, the Local district supervisor and then filed a lawsuit. But this is the BLM today fellow, shooters, off roaders and outdoor enthusiasts. That is how the guy at the Oregon BLM Standoff was shot and that time, the FBI was worse than BLM lying they even shot and thankfully it has now been proven they did but it won't bring that gentleman's little girls Daddy back not the Widow her husband back. Debate all you want about whether the folks should have done what they were doing or not. I don't care. At least they were fighting for their rights and signing Petitions that in California we couldn't get half a million out of well over 8 million Gun Owners in the Sate to get off their butts and sign them. Unless you have been out there with a gun in your hands or even armed to fight these Communists, you have no right to open your mouth to debate the subject. Especially, if you have never fought for this Country or even served.

We need to have an Organization that encompasses all outdoor enthusiast activities especially Target Shooting or hunting. That is what the liberals hate the most and the BLM, Forestry and Cal Fire Offices are full of the environmentalists that live to take all rights away except for the ones they believe in. That is when I have tried to organize clean ups, I do not want to contact any of those organizations for any involvement whatsoever. I did it once and it was in all the local papers for miles, on KCRA 3 out of Sacramento showing how this was only shooters and off roaders that would leave messes like the bigger ones they filmed. By the way, no dumpsters were delivered or porta potties that day as promised either.

So, we need to form an Organization and hopefully have someone involved in these Cal Guns Forums who is an Attorney that can help to set up any and all rules and regulations required by the State, along with any paperwork required, releases of reliability for the Organization so that someone cannot sue all the other members because they tripped over a rock and hurt themselves during scheduled clean ups. We have to include all that want to be involved. The biggest people ever concerned with the land, our resources and the cleanliness have been the Hunters, target shooters etc. I have met over the years. You can ask my kids and anybody that has been out shooting, hunting or tracking, that we come back with more garbage in the back of my truck then we arrived with. My kids have argued, we didn't leave that mess! Yeah your right, but if we don't clean it up others will think this is a dump instead of where we will be hunting this winter if we are even allowed back in because of all the trash left. I have used the closure to us by Sly Park for years but I have to think of something new now. The oldest 2 are 40 and the youngest is almost 26. But they all grab the garbage bags when we are done shooting and start helping Dad clean up until I can use the tie downs to get it squashed down so it is legal and I don't end up being pulled over and them wanting to see our guns etc. I need to find out from a Lawyer exactly what the laws are for Guns and Ammunition when they are in a one cab truck. Common sense says, back seat as far away from driver locked, etc but Common Sense is not Common anymore especially with the BLM.

So, I don't know how to go about starting this but we are going to have to or or we will have no rights left. All the people commenting on this thread that have left the State, go ahead and shoot your mouth off now. Whatever happens in California goes around the country. Look at your gas can to fill your mower and chain saw, etc. That all started in California just a bout 12 years or so ago. Now, my Brother who moved to Virginia has to use the same gas cans I do. Actually, the EPA took it over from The Air Recources Board. It is California's version of the EPA. I hate that we as taxpayers have to fund both Federal and State Agencies who do the exact same function. I worked for the State for almost 30 years before being disabled. I know the waste, the duplication of effort, the infighting over who gets the credit, etc. It all equals higher taxes and less Rights for American Citizens. Millions and Millions gave their lives for this Country, it's Constitution and Bill of Rights, it's Freedoms and way of life. There is a saying in the Service, "Some gave some, and some gave all." My Dad gave all just before my 4th birthday. I gave some when I was of age to Serve and the US was pulling out of Vietnam in 75. I served in England where the older folks had great respect for us because we had just saved them from being Hitler's slaves or being executed in one form or another. The young men hated us because we had some money and "Were stealing their Women" and they were always on strike from week to week in you name the industry. Everywhere was graffiti telling the "Yanks go home."

Bottom line, We need to Organize and get our act together or we are going to continue to lose. This is a game with BLM and will be permanent within 5 years. I am aware of the drill they have to go through to prove to a Court of "Justice", that a particular class of outdoor enthusiasts shouldn't be allowed access for whatever lies they are telling. They are certainly not stopping the Contractors that they are allowing to clear cut our Forests for the Government to make money from the public lands and that money that the Government makes, is hidden and they are allowed in the areas the target shooters aren't when they are using chain saws, mills, chains to tie the logs to 18 wheeled trailers carrying the wood to mills, all the vehicles and equipment used to perform these operations far outnumber the amount of target shooters. However, they only have the Contractors work during the weekdays as their is no where remotely close to the number of people out during the week as the weekend.

We need to Organize and get every Gun Owner, off roader, Hunter and any other group involved as soon as we can. We are all Brothers and Sisters in God's eyes and in the fact we are sharing the same resources that more and more the government is kicking us out of. Are there any Attorneys online that are in these Forums that could help with all the legal requirements. I am disabled and cannot do a lot but I will do whatever I can to get an Organization going to keep the rest of us, my children and yours, my Grandchildren and yours the ability to use our Public Lands because we have fought for our rights and theirs, we have been good stewards of the Resources the Good Lord has given us and have stood up to a Liberal Communist Government here in California that as long as your opinions align with theirs everything is fine. If you disagree with anything they say, they want to kill you.

We need to Organize. Right now would be a great time to have the most intelligent, not me, approach the Government Entities forcing closures and tell them that we would like to go in and have a mass clean up and whomever caused the trash heaps. Don't blame anyone. Just ask for whatever help they can give, dumpsters, Porta Potties etc. I have approached local Supermarkets and told them what we were doing and they gave a ton of food and drinks for the effort. Be sure to write a Letter to the Editor of your Local Newspaper afterwards and give credit to all the organizations that helped, including Government Agencies and only mention for example, the Youth for Outdoor Enthusiasm Group." Dont out in a bunch of names and especially not your own. Give Credit to the Group. After the Letter hits the papers, contact local television news and see if they would interview you or whomever to let them know what "The Youth for Outdoor Enthusiasm." Is all about, what they are trying to accomplish, I.E. Clean Up Our National Resources, Local Public Lands whatever, for all to enjoy. Your not their to blame who put the mess there but you definitly want to say "FOR ALL TO ENJOY OUR FOREST." Not just your group. That is how you get everyone on board to build relationships, help one another, etc.

Please Folks, lets help each other help each other and give your time, resources and prayers to the establishment of an Organization or many Organizations to keep our Rights as Americans where one guy may like target shooting and the other horseback riding. If we respect each other's right, the government wil not be able to divide and conquer, which is the first rule in any book on how to win a war or strategy. The Government has been winning because we are allowing them to seperate us. Let's respect our fellow man like in the Service, no matter what race or anything else. Let's stand together to beat our real enemies and that is our Government. They were never intended from our Founding Fathers to be this far out of Control.

God bless all my Brothers and Sisters out there no matter what you like to do and how different we may be. We can still agree that the Government is infringing on our rights as Citizens of the United States of America!!!

RevolverFan, I wonder if gun organizations can team up with the offroad organizations to double our power. Same with mountain biker organizations. All are under assault by the government and keep getting banned from more and more areas.

Interestingly, horse access is never banned even though study after study shows horse trails do far more damage to the environment than mountain bike trails. Yet they keep banning mountain bikers because hikers and horse riders don't like them.

It seems the left only likes feet.

About 20+ years too late for this. I do not believe it would help regardless. California does not care not does it operate on History. It's a New breed of creature made up from world wide regions that have and will continue to over run it and control it.

Look at Europe for our future here. With little public land and a high population density, only private lands are used for shooting there. Restrictions are severe.

As America's population continues to swell by 3+ million per year, we will be at EU density levels soon, CA is already the same density as Italy. We are looking at 100 million people in this state by centuries end. By then there will be no places to shoot outdoors except private land. The rest will be regulated out of shooting sports, count on it. Most public land will be made off limits as you have seen that here over the last 40 years.

If mass immigration had not happened here in the 1970's and beyond, our population would have stabilized at a very comfortable 230 million people. Now we have an extra 100 million here now, mostly immigrants and their offsprings. Abortions did reduce it 40 million or we would be pushing 400 million here.

If we really want to preserve what's left of shooting sports in California, we need to concentrate on population and immigration control.

Well, this thread has become interesting.

Just a quick add: called and talked with two of the El Dorado National Forest service offices and confirmed there are currently no target shooting restrictions (other than the normal rules, laws, etc.) on EDNF land. BLM restrictions/bans still apply.

Are you aware that while on National Forest land, "they" require you to OPEN-CARRY, loaded (not in chamber). Got a nice little fact sheet from my local Forest Service Office, in San Bernardino.

Have cigar and cigarette smokers been banned?

                              Close Bay Area gun ranges

                              Shut down BLM land

What is left? Do we literally have to buy land just to be able to shoot on it?

That's what they do in Europe. Only the rich enjoy shooting there.
