It will be interesting to see what the CRPA update webinar reveals this Thursday. Their past three webinars (assault weapon registration, ammo registration and high cap mags) were extremely informative. If I shot competitively I would register that/those firearms. I'm not so I will go featureless.

At this point I stop caring. They already know what you got by the back ground check if you did one. Now they want there own registry to know what we got. Ok, now they know and then what? "oh those are outlawed. Get rid of them". Ok, not going to happen. They send police over and after a time something will happen that will change this place in a violent way. We are waiting on the first one to draw. They are pushing the buttons on us. Reg, Comply, featureless, Bolt action, whatever they will try to outlaw it until something breaks and bullet flies by.

While the rest seems a plausible goal of the grabbers, the bold is not correct.

CA DROS (or intrafamilial, or new resident) did not record any information about long guns before 2014 (unless, for some reason, it was voluntarily registered or forcibly registered so it could be returned from LE seizure/evidence). All they have is 'long gun'.

Because the threshold for weapons being constitutionally protected is whether or not they are of common use. If 2.5 million rifles are registered the state satisfied this requirement for us.

If everyone does a "work around" they just proved how uncommon and unecessary these special class of weapons are by comparison to regular rifles.

This is ridiculous, they are doing no such thing. They are playing the long game here. Just like they did with smoking. You make it a little more expensive and difficult to enjoy the shooting sports year after year until you don't even have to ban guns, people just won't bother.

I agree with chuckdizzle. They are playing the long game and will keep pocking and prodding at gun owners. They have all the time in the world to make things difficult and annoying for us. Also, even if our background checks etc... are shared with law enforcement, they don't have the time or resources to check on unregistered/featureless guns to ensure they are actually California compliant.

I see nothing wrong with registering as it will only send a loud and clear message that will only help us later at SCOTUS. Worst case, I could always go featureless later.

Furthermore, the comparison of Kalifornia to NY an Conn is flawed as most gun owners in those states can drive across state line in under an hour to shoot in a pro-2A state like PA or NH.
