Wow I was about a week away from a combat operator. Now I don't think so. Might head back to Sig 1911 or Dan Wilson.

They serve at the pleasure of the stock holders.
If the stock holders are happy, they get to keep their jobs and get nice pay packages and bonuses.
If the stock holders are not happy, they get to look for a new job.- Rich

I agree, a business owner/CEO should know which way the wind is blowing. And in this case it seems he really misread the wind. And while his first priority is to his company, he should also know about the concerns of his customers. And he really blew it. I'm not yelling for the company to burn to the ground, but it's just my observation that Springfield has metaphorically beaten their customers and dragged them off the airplane.
Also, the current Springfield is not the same organization that armed the colonists or even made the 1903s. SAI is a recent creation, started in 1974 that just used the name.
This is foolish. Why is it there is never any nuance to any position. Everything is either 'you're either for us or against us'. I'm not claiming this was a great idea. But sometimes, as a business owner, who is responsible for putting food on a lot of people's tables, you have to 'see which way the wind is blowing'.
For the record this has a lot to do with the fact that the NRA, which continues to take money from you all does nothing, nothing, to help folks in IL, or here in CA. But that is not the subject of this thread.
I'm not thrilled about this. But I have owned many SA products through the years. They're pretty darned good weapons for the money you spend, and they've always been totally reasonable people to deal with in my experience. Your all awfully quick to condemn one of the original American weapons manufacturers as apostates.
Nor does anything, anything in what I read here indicate they are trying to "shut down every", or any(!), existing weapons dealers. Where the h*** did that idea come from?! Other than not being able to see past your tin foil hat, I'm not sure what lead anyone to conclude that from what was in the links and posts above?
Maybe its just me. . ."Last edited by kcheung2; 05-02-2017, 7:57 PM.---------------------

Some retorts to your statement

A Link for you to see the nothing, nothing that the NRA does in CAhttps://www.nraila.org/campaigns/201...ht-california/

The Original Springfield Armory closed its doors in 1968. In 1974 R. Reese bought the licensing rights to use the name. The new Springfield Armory has no association with the original. The original was a U.S. Government Entity, the current one is not.

Not this again... Ruger and S&W both paid the price. Bill Ruger's family lost control of the company and S&W nearly went out of business before they were bought out by an American company that took S&W in a new direction. Many people, including myself, boycotted Troy.
I like SA's 1911's. I was close to getting a TRP. If heads roll and the company makes things right, I might get one in the future. For now, I'll be buying non-1911 handguns.Partisanship is cancer. Glory to the USA, glory to Ukraine, and I hope that someday Russia is free and the normal people have a voice.

I'll take an M1a off anyone's hands with a steep price cut to keep you from being in cahoots with Springfield. I'd prefer a scout in tan but any one is fine. I'm too far down the rabbit hole my handguns are Springfields and 3/4 of my ar uppers are RRA so if it was up you you guys I'd be going to hell.Comment

Today Springfield Armory and Rock River pulled out of the IFMA. More to the point, the CEO of both firms issued statements about the affair, laying out their position in no uncertain terms.
As always in cases like this, it's best to wait a bit and gather all the facts rather than go running off in all directions based on the fevered imagination of a single "pro-gun" writer who had zero knowledge of the actual facts of the situation.
Watching the gunnies here pump out five pages of ill-informed outrage was amusing at best, alarming at worst since it proves we are more than prone to reacting without thinking what we are doing.
So, all you guys who dumped their Springfield Armory and Rock River products in the ocean last weekend to prove how principled, how "pure" you are with the 2A - all you've done is look stupid and show our enemies the best way to attack and divide us.
And we wonder what happened to our rights in California ...

Good on everyone that continues to put pressure on SA and RRA. At least they are saying the right things with the "pulling out of IFMA."
However, that is not quite enough as IFMA was created by them and funded by them so it's like they are closing one of their "departments." To make it right, they need to donate and fund pro 2A causes and fight this bill.
To those that wonder why CA is like this...it's because of this very reason...all the lobbies getting carve outs for every rule except John Q Public.Comment

To quote a comment on FB:
Except that SA & RRA didn't make the contributions. The manufacturers lobby group (IFMA) did. It's no different than you or me donating to a certain cause only to find out that the money didn't go where you expected it would.
I'm sure they'll keep a closer eye on things from now on.sigpic NRA Benefactor Life Member / CRPA Life Member / SAF Life Member
