My point is simply that this is how the legislative process works. Different groups lobby for their agendas. The manufactures association was successful, while the NRA and the state 2A groups were not. I think the anger should be put towards those groups that represent you that failed, not the ones that represent someone else and succeeded.

        Point thoroughly understood.
My Point: Protest this lobbying group by boycotting not only SA and RRA, but all other members of the group. We don't need groups like this one around. I believe SA and RRA will come to realize that.

SA's response in nothing more than weasel-speak.

Cooper's rule #4 applies here: Identify your target, and what is behind it.

SA isn't stupid, they have lawyers, marketing professionals and others on their payroll; they KNEW what was in the bill before they made their decision otherwise they were throwing shots without knowing what the backstop was.

I don't buy it. The backlash is already causing them to back peddle. Problem for other citizens is this isn't a "New Coke" screw up.... fundamental 2nd Amendment rights have been harmed by their poor judgment.

This! I agree with your assessment. I didn't know Springfield did this and I'm thoroughly disappointed. I have a couple Springfields, they're probably gonna be my last [emoji22].

You may be 100% correct. But, then again, only those at SA know for sure. Time will tell. At this point, I will take their statement at face value. I have been a fan of SA since I started shooting (only 5 years ago). I don't have a dog in the fight (whether or not SA did or didn't intend for this legislation to go thru). I will wait to see what other actions SA takes or doesn't take.

It doesn't hurt me personally one way or another at the moment. Will it affect a future purchase? I don't know. Will have to see how it all shakes out.

I know a majority of others on here and other forums have already judged based on one release. I am old enough to know that things may not always be as they seem.

My point in posting the entire release was so that others reading just this forum can read the entire release, not just a small portion of it. Then, they can make their own personal decision on it.

It would make a better point to those concerned if SA and RR withdrew from this industry group and urged other manufacturers to do so as well.

And for those of who claim that with all their lawyers and all their money SA should have known, I've got news for you: no, they don't. This trade group went rogue in a hearing, got their people an exemption, and went neutral for the final vote. Even if someone was on the phone during the hearing itself, it would take time to get to management and then time to craft an appropriate response and by that time the damage was done.

I say give it a few more days before you ship all your guns back to SA or dump them in the Bay.

Not arguing that point, but the donation was back in 2014.

RRA posted up a similar press release to Springfield.

they knew enough about the bill to make sure they were exempt from it. And people were *****ing about the bill for weeks n SA says they were ill informed/ didn't know about. Nobody writes a 50k check for something and doesn't have all the info.

Interesting that this "rogue" lobbying group has only two contributors, SA and RRA....

Which means they're still funding them, so it's far greater than the 50k investment from 2014.
