    Bipod vs bags

new shooter here and before i invested in a bipod i was shooting off my plano case. Seemed solid enough because the SI Link on my handguard squeezed into the creases outside of the plano case. Still i wanted to try a bipod because shooting off a case well just looked homely and whats $20 for a functioning and practical attachment right?

first day with the bipod i notice i didnt have clearance with the 30rd mag. this wasnt a problem with my case as the holder because when i was done shooting i just turned the rifle over and layed it on its side. Second i noticed it was more flimsy when concentrating on my target. Could both these issues be solved with a rear bench bag?

I actually use the 10/20 and 10/30 mags as a monopod. I prefer not to add extra stuff on my gun.

It's comfortable. Left hand holds the mag and I shoot with my right. Whereas if you had a bipod, I suppose your support hand would be tucked across your chest. I'm not sniping though.

Accuracy-wise, I'm just shooting steel with iron sights so it's good enough.

For prone shooting the length of 10/30 round mags is too long, 10/20 is just right.

U should never rest on the mag. It can cause malifications. I believe your not even supposed to hold it. But that seems less stress then resting the rifle on it

10/20 - 10/30 for AR15 are awesome. 10/30 for a AR10/.308 rifle...in CA...not so much. Went with regular short 10 round PMags but have not taken it out yet.

Thats common knowledge in the Army at least. Ive been told that for your almost a decade in the military.

Also OP get some 20rnd mags. All my SPR's are running them, and as a general rule you want your bi-pods as low as possible when firing from the prone.

10 rounder mags for bags here. They don't hang up on anything and besides, it's bench shooting. You don't need "30 round clips" to do that.

Sorry, I haven't served in the Army. Don't know if it's true or not. There's no FUD in the army?

                            ><

If you want to learn to shoot a rifle, get off the bench.

Most ranges have a rimfire section with no benches....this ia where you learn to shoot a rifle, a 22lr, a box of ammo, no bench, slow fire and a "every shot counts
                            " mentality.
