Image hosting site other than Photobucket?

I use Photobucket to store images for posting on Calguns and the like. Recently it has changed for the worse and is almost impossible to use plus i suspect it is making my internet connection freeze, so I'm giving up on them.

Do you have suggestions for a free image hosting site better than Photobucket?

Photobucket sucks. I cant even go on it on my phone without getting malicious popups. Imgur is fast and easy.

I played around with it. Can pics be displayed in a thread (link between IMG tags) or do you have to just post a link to your album?

I just tried to share a link to a pic in Google photos and Calguns can't seem to display it. I think for everyone to see the pic, they too must have a Google account and be signed in.

I like imgur which makes it easy to embed pictures at reduced size with a http link to the original - it even generates BBCode for quick cut-and-paste.

It retains the original image so people can click through to see the finest details and you can download for manipulation on a different device.

Its matching application allows direct upload from Android smart phones (I don't know about iPhone).

Privacy options include you only, any one who has the link, and public.

I switched when I ran out of uploads at calguns and other forums decided it was better not to host users' pictures.

Imgur is OK. Creating albums and getting pics into albums seems a bit cumbersome. I found I also had to reduce the pic size once uploaded to Imgur and before posting to Calguns otherwise the displayed size would be too large. Maybe I'm just missing some simple setting?

In the bottom right corner of your image page there's an option for "Image size" with selections including original, medium thumbnail, large thumbnail, huge thumbnail, etc.

On the right side you get text in boxes which drops into a variety of markup environments including BBcode. You can choose just the selected image size or that plus a link back to the original with its title, caption, and click-for-original-size.

I didn't know about that. That makes Imgur even better for forum photos.

Unless you wanted the organizational power of Flickr, I don't know why you'd use anything else.

images are incredibly persistent

You don't need an account to use it but you can certainly create one if you wish

They strip the meta data out of the photos for you (like GPS tags)

Did I mention that the photos are incredibly persistent? How many times to you see the photobucket meme where a picture should be because some heathen deleted his account and the picture went with him? You don't get that with imgur

It was created by people who hate photobuckit...so you know they made it better.

One downside of using Flickr to host images for forums is their terms of service require the image is part of a link back to the Flickr photo page (as in my examples above). This is a problem if you don't want people to see the rest of your photos. Imgur has no such requirement, so it's good for forum hosting.

RDFact you need to right click the google pic then click "copy image address" not "copy image link" and just drop in the link using the pic icon at the top of the posting space in Calguns. "copy image address" gives you a much longer character string that's how you tell it's the right one!

You need to create a shared album, from there you can use the link for the picture.
Just make sure the you are viewing the picture by it's self, not from the album view of the other pictures when getting the link..
