I prefer to go simple and robust ...

Remington 870 with 7-shot mag, 18" barrel, and Hogue youth stock.

I used to use a Remington Model 8 for hunting at higher elevations in the Eastern Sierra. The barrel is easily removed and allows the rifle to be carried in a pack. The Model 8 was a rifle well ahead of it's time; a semiauto breakdown rifle that hit the market in 1911.

Well, for camping and not hunting I have an AR7, a lightweight AR setup that I just break down for the pack if I need to for some reason, and I actually really like the M1 Carbine as a "pack" gun.

For backpack hunting short- 2-3 day trips I have an Eberlestock pack that will hump in whatever gun is appropriate in its scabbard. The scabbard will hold AR's, bolt guns, whatever. For long hunting trips- 5-7 days I have actually gone to an USMC ILBE pack that holds enough food and the Eberlestock pack inside it and the rifle(s) lashed to the pack. I set up a sort of base camp and then use the Eberlestock with a light load and rifle in the scabbard on my day hunts. I can range pretty far in some areas so I carry enough in the pack for an overnighter if I get on a good trail.

I guess it all depends on what you are hunting... break shotguns like if u are into dove and bird and double barrels u can do the white lightning by Remington I belive or really most shotguns with slug or Buck or even cut shells if you feel like a savage [emoji14]

Does the 17hmr setup use 10-22 mags and bolt?

I wonder if AGP could make a barrel for 17hmr?
