Remember customer service? Guns & Ammo Burbank

    Question.

Is there ANY law anywhere saying a store cannot release a handgun 5 minutes passed it's listed closing time?

    If so, disregard this post..

If there isn't, what happened to customer service? Guns Direct has been GREAT with me.. I was gifted a Glock 20(purchased at Guns & Ammo/ Burbank) for christmas and today was my pickup.. 5:05pm with a store closing at 5pm.

They said, come back tomorrow..we're closing in a couple minutes (this being at 4:40pm, so 20 minutes being "a couple minutes").

I went in there to SPEND hundreds of dollars on a light/laser, accessories and ammunition for it as well.. I'll be taking my business down the street.

I know this sounds like I'm nothing more than a complainer but working in the industry I do having a day off can be once every 3 weeks and my days start at 6am and end at 8pm, if not longer.. so it's not as easy as "just wait an extra day" unfortunately.

Did your pickup slip say 1/8/2017 at 5:05? The request made at 4:40 is moot because they can't release the pistol to you until 5:05, they have no obligation to stay later than their posted hours.

Yes, it's outrageous that a business wouldn't stay open past their advertised hours! OUTRAGEOUS!

I think you should contact Jackie Childs. You've got a case here.

I get this.. and yes it does say 5:05pm, but my question is more as to if there is a law forbidding them or just laziness?

As a business owner? would you not wait 5 additional minutes to close if you had an additional $500-$750 in sales that day?

There is no law, but common sense on your part should have dictated different behavior. If the store isn't open when my DROS is up, I don't go to the store.

            You're expectations are completely unreasonable.

I haven't been into that place yet, but they better be on point if they want to stay in business with Guns Direct right down the street. The guys and gals at Guns Direct have been nothing but awesome every time I've been in there. The guys at Gunworld are total *****holes too....I stepped foot in there once and haven't been in since....they have the worst attitudes and prices to boot. Hopefully you just caught them at a bad time and they don't make that their business model

I live down the street, no time off my back to go by there. I went in early to BUY TONS OF **** for my new handgun and to support a NEW business.. but how can you expect to stay in business when 2 blocks down the street you have a store that will bend over backwards to make you happy... just wish my gifted glock was bought at Guns Direct.

Take it as you will, maybe i'm being unreasonable (we're talking 5 minutes here, not 45 minutes).

Yeah, I went into Gunworld once.. couldn't get a single person to help me (store's a mess, so needing help finding something is understandable)... felt like i needed to waive a hundred dollar bill out or something.

Guns Direct will always get ALL my business even if it's more expensive by a few bucks..

On the other side of the counter, sometimes the people that come in at/after closing will hang around for upwards of an hour.
I hang around as I'm the owner and like money, but their employees have no obligation towards that.

I don't think it's unreasonable for a business owner who is mandated to comply with overtime laws sends the employees home at closin time.

Should the owner be expected to stay, himself, to handle this? I don't feel strongly either way. If he did, kudos, if he didn't, well, I'm not really mad unless they had said something when I DROSd to lead me to believe they'd take care of me.

I don't see an event worthy of strong criticism. It's certainly not a lack of customer service.

Here's a little tip. Especially in the days of YELP and the internet, the customer isn't really always right. They tend to expect extras under threat of bad publicity.

Not me, I was in there 30 minutes before closing to pick out a few things.. and didn't want to be there a minute longer than needed.

I guess I'm the ******* trying to spend his money at a retail shop striving for business and hoping they'd stay an additional 07 minutes passed closing to make a few hundred bucks or more before end of day. (I worked retail, I get it. )

Oh well.. tomorrow is a new day for me to spend my money at Guns Direct

If they stayed open till 5:05 to take my money for the gun I would be a little upset they wouldn't stay open until 5:05 for me to pick it up. That's assuming of course the hours were not different on those particular days.

It's even worse for the shops that refuse to do PPT paperwork. Was at Outdoor Sportsman in Stockton to do a PPT this weekend, they were helping customers that came in behind my friend and I. When I asked for help I was told the priority was on "customers actually spending money."

Which is dumb, you get to charge $25 for 5 minutes of work, and they would have had me spending $400 on a scope, maybe more once I had my cash in hand. No thanks, I'll shop at Tracy Rifle and Pistol where they have always taken care of me even when busy.
