So you have guns - do you shoot them?

I've been reading here a little while and I've seen a lot of legal discussion and quite a lot of gun talk, but not much about shooting.

    How often do you shoot?
    Do you hunt?
What sort of shooting do you do, and with which guns?
How many rounds do you burn in a typical month?

I don't like being in SoCal, or any part of CA for that matter but there is a range nearby and I do go punch paper 1 or 2 times a week, probably 300 to 500 rounds per visit. I mostly shoot pistols at practical distances with some 25m rimfire rifle mixed in.

I miss being able to just drive over to the gravel pit and set up some targets at 100m+ and just do informal shooting, but the range is OK.

I shoot atleast once a month usually. I have not gotten into hunting. I shoot AR/AK and 9mm. I'll set up cardboard idpa(i think) targets and I have a steel plate with stand I'll set up. I went yesterday and messed around with the AR (sight in) and my CCW. Did some holster draw work with a shot timer. I used to shoot 200 rnds every trip but have lessened with all the regulations. Will pick it up back next year.

500 rounds per month, per gun. I cycle 4-5 guns per month.

2 to 3 times per week, 2,000 to 3,000 rounds per month. And if you're asking for the Antis, I couldn't care less. There is a gun culture in California -- always has been and always will be -- and you can't wish it away no matter how hard you try or how much money you spend.

I hunt a lot.I live in northern California where we still have a lot of opportunity to shoot.
I can shoot everyday.Mostly I hunt predators and varmints.
But it is duck season now and I'm in a nice duck club.

I found shooting is something I have to schedule.

A few years ago, although I work in the firearms industry and am surrounded by guns all the time, I suddenly realized I almost never went out shooting. I think it had been years, certainly many months. So I called up Burro Canyon and arranged to rent one of their tac ranges the first Saturday of every month for, like, forever. There, now it was on my calendar. I invited co-workers and their friends to come, so I had to be there, to set up.

That was a good run, having a scheduled monthly shoot like that. A year or so ago we had to give it up because the ammunition was getting too expensive and we were trying to cut back on expenses.

Now I'm back in the same rut, I very rarely go shooting, even though there is a first-class indoor range about a mile from my office. So I'm planning to set up the same kind of monthly schedule with Washoe County Range that I did at Burro Canyon.

The only problem with that is, unlike in SoCal, there are many days here when you simply do not want to be outside shooting.

Not often enough. I got three more long guns this year and I haven't fired them yet.

These days almost all of my shoot time is hunting...I think I've poked about as many holes as I need to in paper over the last 15 years.

My son and I try to go at least every other week. Holiday schedule has made that difficult. We probably shoot 150-200 rounds each per outing.

I shoot as often and as much as time and money allow.

All of my CCW pistols are shot once or twice a month minimum. Typically 50 to 100 rounds through each pistol.

New guns, long guns and favorites are added to the mix each range visit.

Unless they are expensive or unpleasant to shoot, they also consume a box or two each.

I know this is less than many of my fellow CGer's, but it balances out nicely with my other hobbies as well as my time/monetary budgets.

Not as much shooting as I use to... To busy stocking up on Ammo before the Registration begins.

I've been busy buying guns and working to buy guns.

But since I live in the Bay Area and ranges are few and far between (and only getting worse) I don't see it improving much. Maybe my New Years resolution will be to go shooting once a month next year

Not a big hobby for me. Mostly practice just to be proficient. I got into guns when I recognized their relationship to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
