But I would prefer if the slant wasn't as steep so that it would fit in my mag pouches better

Initial release there was concern that it would not be available in CA but DOJ has not indicated otherwise and has been approving DROS for them.

Years ago the consensus around here was that this type of mag coupler was likely not legal in CA. Has anything changed that would imply that this concept would be more defensible today?

One thing I can personally think of in the pro change category is the general acceptance of the Keltec KSG. The face that there are two integral tube mags attached to the weapon doesn't seem to be an issue because the mags have to be manually switched between. Maybe this would be looked at similarly today?

On the other hand, this item replaces the floorplates on each mag which means the four mags are no longer functional as stand alone items... If there isn't new law or case law that addresses these, who wants to be the test case?
Yep, noted that myself in the 5th post. Here's hoping it's applicable.

Get yourself some of those Aguila mini shells. 22 or 24 round capacity. Still ok to do as it's a tube and not a mag.

                    Actually no.
Only .22lr tube mags on lever-action rifles are exempt.

No, it is definitely still a magazine. In fact it is specifically a tube magazine. Being in the shape of a tube does not change that it is a magazine, or more specifically an "ammunition feeding device". As far as using shells that are shorter than the firearm was originally designed to feed from the mag to increase the capacity, CA DOJ has not given any opinion on the matter that I've ever seen nor has there been any cases involving it that I'm aware of(there might be something out there).

No, .22 caliber tube magazines are exempt on any firearm. It does not have to be rimfire. For any other caliber, the tube magazine has to be on a lever action firearm.

16740. As used in this part, “large-capacity magazine” means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:
                      (a) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.
                      (b) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
                      (c) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.
As far as the actual item discussed in the OP, no I wouldn't buy it. However, at least it isn't as retarded as that giant star shaped 5 mag coupler thing.

I'd be down for one of the 4 mag coupler. You should also sell it with mags if you don't already plan to.

In fact, the KSG is specifically mentioned n this week's DOJ emergency release as NOT being deemed a large cap mag.

As I see it, the newly released DOJ regulations on magazines indicate that this is a legal device.

See the new regs at the link here:

                            From those regs:
                            (4) One or more magazines, each having a 10 round or less capacity, that are then attached to each other with tape, a plastic or metal coupler, or welded together would not be deemed a large-capacity magazine unless one of the following circumstances exist:
The two "unless" circumstances listed at the end of this section are both related to "internal magazines of a firearm", so this device should be good to go.
