Was this by the beach or out by the onion fields?

Neither. Residential/business area. Few hundred yards away from a major intersection and 100 yards from fire station 4.

        Nice, big bang reference.

I used to live right there also. Still live in the city. But there have been a lot of killings in every city lately. Ventura just had two with the guy stabbed to death at the bus stop.

Guess what?? Another shooting homicide! Police responded to reports of gunshots and found a dead body about 2 hours ago.

You might want to reconsider your living arrangements...

Yeah...got me thinking already since the homicide outside my place a few weeks ago. This one happened down the street from base.

The CBC base area of Hueneme wasn't bad when I lived in Oxnard. That was thirty years ago though. Hueneme Rd/J st area was the sketchy part of south Oxnard back then.

My wife and I have gone back there a few times over the last ten years for the Strawberry Festival. Oxnard has really changed. A lot.

Glad you didn't get hit by a stray or a thru and thru.

                      Stay safe.
                      Sorry, not sorry.

Hate to bring bad news but this is the norm in Oxnard.

Fire station 62** on Pleasant Valley Rd.

A couple years ago, I had a shooting call in the same block of the same street. 5am, guy warming up his car to go to work. It's amazing to me the amount of violence for a beach community in a nice county. Stay safe and carry one, OP

Every man needs a handgun, a shotgun, and a rifle. The shotgun should be seriously considered as your first purchase anyway, since getting a CCW is a time consuming process, so you won't be carrying outside the home for the time being.

That's my advice to a newbie, with 30 years of shooting and owning guns under my belt.
Home Defense (HD) Shotgun and something to lock it up in when you are not home.
