Once you show you can hit at 100 yards, they'll certify you for the 150 - 300 yard range, same day. Cost, I think about $17 (not sure, I'm a member).sigpicComment

Agreed. I used to go to the Gun Range in North Highlands but I have not been back there since SGC opened . SGC has good rules and there are ROs around to ensure the safety of the place. The rail system at SGC always work while the rail system at The Gun Range does not work most of the time.
For outdoor range , Sacramento Valley is the best out door range in the region .Comment

I've never had an issue with the target rails at The Gun Range. If they aren't working correctly, 99% of the time it's user error. Also, The Gun Range is $17 for as long as you want to shoot. Isn't SGC something like $17 for one hour, plus it's 45 minutes away from Watt and 80. It's definitely nicer than The Gun Range but not worth the drive and higher fees.Agreed. Lincoln is a nice outdoor range for rifles and pistols but it is small and does get crowded too, just get there early.
I joined Sac Valley for $100 and it costs me $10 total for myself, wife and 2 boys to shoot there. I think it's $16 for non members. Sac Valley is an all day trip though where you can take your time and shoot some trap, move on over to pistols and the rim fire plinking range and then finish with rifles. Lest few times we've been there we've practically had the entire place to ourselves after 2:00.**** your feelings!Comment

SGC is about 20 mins (10 miles) from Watt/80 depending on traffic. I live right between them.Comment

After an easy qual on the main 100 yard range (to prove you can hit somewhere on the paper, you can go to the 300 yard range.
The cost is $15 a day I think. http://www.sacvalley.org/membership.htmlComment

The Gun Room in Elk Grove is a nice indoor range that I enjoy shooting my revolvers at.Comment

If you're made of the right stuff, Sac Valley Shooting Center is wonderful. During the winter months it does get a bit chilly - but the staff put out a burn barrel to warm up with. If you are adverse to 38f mornings during the months of December to March, the inside ranges will offer a roof and central heating.Comment

I like the Sac Gun Club, but they been busier on the weekends lately, and now limit non members time to an hour.

I actually really like lincoln as well. I'd forgotten that I've been there, but it's a clean and safe range, and the price and location are right.cant stand indoor ranges...bahhhhh
I like Lincoln the best for outdoor- then Cordova Shooting Center
Sac Valley Range is the best..but it is twice the distance from Sacramento as the above two.
If you can get a weekday..go to LINCOLN!!!! I shoot there and there might be 5 people mid week- check hours before you go though. Some days close early for neighbors dealing with cattleMy AR is 7.62x39, so that if/when we get invaded, I can shoot their ammo back at them!
