Funny that you say that as it was in fact essentially over for the State of Jefferson when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.
"Did I say "republic?" By God, yes, I said "republic!" Long live the glorious republic of the United States of America. Damn democracy. It is a fraudulent term used, often by ignorant persons but no less often by intellectual fakers, to describe an infamous mixture of socialism, miscegenation, graft, confiscation of property and denial of personal rights to individuals whose virtuous principles make them offensive." - Westbrook Pegler

Ha! You are correct! After Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, the movement to create the State of Jefferson was put on the back burner. Bigger fish to fry.

The issue is now front and center for many northern Californians and southern/eastern Oregonians.

I recall seeing an Eastern county sheriff testify that his department would NOT enforce the magazine ban.

Oregon is not represented on that map. We don't need no steenking Oregoners.

I have a friend who lives in rural California, in a county that will not be named, who is friendly with the fire and law enforcement people there (he's a volunteer fireman). He tells me people in his circle do whatever they want with guns, buy whatever they want, shoot whatever they want. He says no LE in his county will enforce assault weapon bans, magazine bans, crap like that.

I don't think they publicize this, however.

Considering how fairly conservative our town is the shall not issue county we're in has always baffled me.

You can live in denial all you want, but it doesn't change what a sh*thhole that Commiefornia has become.

My family is from the PRC and I grew up there. In the fifties and sixties there was absolutely no better place to be on the planet. Surfing, cars, nice looking chicks, it had it all. We could go out to the country and shoot our guns and no one gave a damn.

Not to sound like a broken record, but except for the splendid weather, nearly everything about it sucks balls. High taxes, insanely high housing prices, failing schools filled with leftest teachers trying to indoctrinate children int being good little liberals, high fuel prices, high cost of vehicle registration, high insurance costs, the list goes on and on and on......

And while you beat your chest and proclaim that you are going to stay and fight, it is a lost cause. Not as dramatic as the Alamo, but the end result is the same. You are loosing and will continue to lose.

So, you stay there and continue to fund the government that is h*ll bent on taking your rights away one stupid law at a time. Others with more common sense than you will continue to move away to find better places to live.

And yes, I will continue to mock those of you that choose to stay because you haven't the vision to realize there is a better life elsewhere and think that you are somehow going to change the downhill slide.

Actually, I've found that every form of insurance except Workmans Comp is more expensive here in Reno: health insurance, commercial liability, car insurance, etc. Workmans Comp, on the other hand, is quite a bargain. It would be a real savings for a California company with a lot of employees to relocate here, for the Workmans Comp savings alone.

One of the biggest reasons Cali will never allow the State of Jefferson to become real is water rights. The north state has the water that the south needs and the south doesn't want to give up that control.

It existed once upon a time for me personally when I bought my first rifle way back in 1979, a Winchester 22 semiauto from a guy who was retiring and moving. I gave him $75 and he gave me the gun. I'm now in Arizona and that is the way it is here. That is what I call gun friendly.

My biggest gripe about California is the urban/suburban sprawl, massive population increase, demographic shifts, and no forward thinking to improve our infrastructure. Traffic sucks, roads are terrible, housing shortages, shortages of water, and we have no money or will to fix this. People just keep coming and coming. The change has been huge as compared to only 15 years ago.
It was just an old plywood boat, with a '75 Johnson, with electric choke. A young boy, two hands on the wheel, I can't replace the way it made me feel.

My car insurance stayed about the same. My homeowners/fire insurance went down. I don't have to pay for any of those other kinds of insurance, so I wouldn't know the difference. While it may be higher in Reno, my friend just moved to Arizona and his insurance went down overall.
