Well, hell, I joined the NRA

Wow, if someone told me 5 years ago I'd join the NRA I'd tell them they were crazy. But damn, I just joined. Can you be a member of the NRA and the Sierra Club at the same time? LoL.

These ridiculous laws did it. Probably should have done so a while ago.

    Where's my free duffel bag!!!

You'd be surprised that many NRA members don't fit the caricature the anti-freedom people would like you to believe. Welcome aboard. Thanks for standing with us.

Similar situation for me a couple years ago. I don't agree with everything they say or do, but the other extreme won't ever stop until we are 100 percent disarmed.

        Good job!
Sierra Club and the NRA aren't contradictory. One aims to protect the Earth and the other aims to protects our rights to protect our lives.

SIERRA CLUB MISSION STATEMENT: To explore, enjoy and protect the planet. To practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources; to educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out those objectives.

The NRA's mission statement, summarized from its bylaws, is: "To protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, especially with reference to the inalienable right of the individual American citizen guaranteed by such Constitution to acquire, possess, collect, exhibit, transport, carry, transfer ownership of, ...

Agreed. I've been a member of some years now, but just like the political parties I may not agree with everything that is done. Just got to find the closest fit to what matches your priorities and go with it.

Life member here. I belong to a number of organizations and never agree fully with their some of their stands or what they do. I don't have to, belonging is what counts and is most important.

IIRC, the Sierra Club has joined with hunting groups in the past in conservation efforts.

You could do worse things. The NRA isn't perfect but it's a lot better than the way things are headed in California.

Benefactor Life Member here...I've never fully agreed with the NRA, but no one can deny that they are the most influential RKBA organization on Earth. I shudder to think where we'd be right now without them.

And yes, wanting to protect the environment, and wanting to protect basic civil rights, are absolutely compatible aims.

I used to be a member of the Sierra Club but stopped making donations because they support and push for national restricted lands that limits it's use like wilderness and monuments.

                              Doesn't the philosophy of "Pro-Freedom" naturally encompass Pro-2A, Pro-Legalization, Pro-Earth, etc.?

Not sure how one can truly and logically be Pro-Freedom while being anti-gun, etc.
