It is. My bad. We had a coyote in the yard 2 days ago at 10am. Probably after the dog food. The skunks haven’t been around the last few months. Haven’t had bats in our entry way this year. I like the bats. Wife hates the bats, especially when one got spooked & flew in the house. That was fun. We did have these friendly looking creatures in our yard near the pond.

When I retire I want that

Just fill your tag in your back yard.

Anybody ever hunted in California know's this frustration.

Seems like I've read of more than a few rural resident hunters who treat the game around the house as pets, and go elsewhere to fill their tags.

I had an in-law who grew up in upstate New York [Why don't we call Jefferson territory "upstate" around here?] and he took to bow-hunting for the challenge. He mentioned one neighbor who, when the freezer started getting a little thin, would just take a cup of coffee and his shotgun out onto the back porch and sit and wait for a deer to wander by.

I asked him about seasons, and he had a good laugh, seems the folks who lived there didn't pay much attention to them. He said the local game warden knew what was going on, but he also knew that the residents were intimately familiar with the game populations, and he basically let them do their own management.

                No elk either.
