Other then the fact your firing a blank it should be perfectly legal as long as you only fire it in a area where its legal to discharge a firearm.

its a bit of a grey area at times since even fun science projects like potato guns that use combustion can be illegal in some areas of the country.

There was a letter from the CA DOJ that someone posted on line about 1-2 years ago. The letter from the DOJ basically said that the golf ball launcher by itself was not illegal, however if you attach it to a firearm it becomes a destructive device and therefore is illegal. They consider it in the same category as a grenade launcher. If I can find the original post I put up a link.

Just got a new catalog, they added brass catchers, some scope mounts, and picture frame gun storage to their "no to CA" list. I was wondering if IGGY got a job there.
If you want to piss off a liberal and help a conservative, ship a gun to California.

Would'nt it be a problem with the threaded barrel also?

Threaded barrels aren't illegal on rifles in California.

Here is the proof. NOT LEGAL to use in Ca. Now you can stop posting.

                    From manufactuer,
California Residents: This item is legal to possess in the State of California, however if attached to a firearm it is considered a Destructive Device. Basically — we can ship you one to California, but you can’t use it in California! Don’t blame me, blame the California Dept. of Justice.

                    CHAPTER 2.5. DESTRUCTIVE DEVICES
12301. (a) The term "destructive device," as used in this chapter, shall include any of the following weapons: (1) Any projectile containing any explosive or incendiary material or any other chemical substance, including, but not limited to, that which is commonly known as tracer or incendiary ammunition, except tracer ammunition manufactured for use in shotguns. (2) Any bomb, grenade, explosive missile, or similar device or any launching device therefor. (3) Any weapon of a caliber greater than 0.60 caliber which fires fixed ammunition, or any ammunition therefor, other than a shotgun (smooth or rifled bore) conforming to the definition of a "destructive device" found in subsection (b) of Section 479.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations, shotgun ammunition (single projectile or shot), antique rifle, or an antique cannon. For purposes of this section, the term "antique cannon" means any cannon manufactured before January 1, 1899, which has been rendered incapable of firing or for which ammunition is no longer manufactured in the United States and is not readily available in the ordinary channels of commercial trade. The term "antique rifle" means a firearm conforming to the definition of an "antique firearm" in Section 479.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations. (4) Any rocket, rocket-propelled projectile, or similar device of a diameter greater than 0.60 inch, or any launching device therefor, and any rocket, rocket-propelled projectile, or similar device containing any explosive or incendiary material or any other chemical substance, other than the propellant for that device, except those devices as are designed primarily for emergency or distress signaling purposes. (5) Any breakable container which contains a flammable liquid with a flashpoint of 150 degrees Fahrenheit or less and has a wick or similar device capable of being ignited, other than a device which is commercially manufactured primarily for the purpose of illumination. (6) Any sealed device containing dry ice (CO2) or other chemically reactive substances assembled for the purpose of causing an explosion by a chemical reaction. (b) The term "explosive," as used in this chapter, shall mean any explosive defined in Section 12000 of the Health and Safety Code.

I'm still not seeing how this fits the definition set forth in the PC you're citing.

clarification from the DOJ is a joke is it not? their opinions change with each letter sent almost.

"(2) Any bomb, grenade, explosive missile, or similar device or any launching device therefor."

A golf ball is not (bomb/grenade/explosive missile) nor similar to one.
A Golf ball launcher attachment is not a (bomb/grenade/explosive missile launcher)

so Technically the definition does not actually fit i think, But im sure all the DA's would not agree and most LEOS would probably not be able to tell the difference.

The DOJ would have you believe OLLs and bullet buttons are illegal too. I'll wait for one of the Right People to chime in with an actual educated opinion instead of some minimum wage flunkie at DOJ to try and spread FUD.

I still want to play a round of golf with a group of guys using various AR mounted golf ball launchers.

Oh also, how does DOJ feel about this?

There is absolutely nothing in that PC (I read and re-read it 3 times) that would prohibit a golf ball launcher.

It doesn't fire fixed ammunition greater than .60 caliber and it doesn't explode.

                                Golf ball launcher = legal.
