Technically, they didn't carry Mini-14's. They carried the Ruger AC556. Basically the Select Fire version of a Mini. Considering Hannibal was a Colonel, it's fairly logical that he would be carrying a Side Arm instead of a Rifle.

I feel cheated. I was a teen in the early 80's, and the only two shows I remember watching were M*A*S*H, and Night Court.

Never watched A-Team, Magnum PI or Miami Vice. Wasn't Miami Vice responsible for popularizing the Bren Ten?

Only carried one on occasion while in service, never had to qualify with it like some of the officers did. But I thought it was A-OK, and I'd like to have a M9 of some kind in my collection someday.

I actually sold my M1 to purchase a Mini ~ Carbine ammo was just getting stupid..... Absolutely no regrets with that decision!

I bought a brand new Mini and traded my Dad for an M1 Carbine in 1987 had been trying to talk him out of the M1 since I was a teenager.

I'll bite, I had an Underwood/SSGD once. I heard they are pretty accurate. If you saw the target I shot at you'd think Ray Charles was shooting it.

Do not like the M1 Carbine cartridge.

I have fired my M1 Carbine maybe twice. Something I didn't like about it. Maybe the sights, though the Mini-14 sights are nothing to write home about either.

It's a bit anemic. Years ago shooting bowling balls (right) the 30 carbine would chip the ball, while a 357 out of a 4" would bust it wide open..... Not scientific I know, but real world results.
