      Favorite Moments at SHOT 09

      - Knights Armament Open House - A+++
      - Century Arms has a prototype S/A Sterling they are hoping to go full production.

      - This Shotshow saw many very small .380 carry pistols, I preferred Kahr Arms slimline 380 with integrated Crimson trace grips.
Next month Kahr Arms will be shipping the P380, a new .380 pistol that is even smaller than the Kel-Tec P3AT.Along with the fairly new Ruger LCP, competition in the .380 compact carry niche is really heating up.The P380 features a DAO trigger, 6+1 capacity and is obviously chambered in .380 ACP.Much the same specs as the Ruger LCP and Kel-Tec P3AT.Click to expand all images.

      - LWRC had an innovative 8.2" PSD Rifle chambered in 6.8 SPC
      - Colt showed off their new compact folding rifle stock, which I thought was a failure (very difficult to manipulate and very uncomfortable).
      - Benelli was showing off a box supposedly containing their new "Vinci" hunting gun, but didn't give any details as to what the heck it really was.
      - HK had all of their Military and Law Enforcement line available to fondle. My favorite was their HK 69A1 40mm grenade launcher (Too much fun).
      - The new Colt branded .22lr AR15 from Umarex was on display. It felt very very cheap and flimsy.

Thanks for the info and pics, guys. Other than the GSG-5 girl what was the most memorable thing you saw there? And what was the coolest Cal-Legal thing?

Most memorable? That's a tough one:

Cobra (who makes those inexpensive .380 autos and derringers) has a new copy of the S&W 442 model at 14 ounces (aluminum frame) for $350 suggested retail. Perfect for that tackle box or other harsh environment. Steel cylinder with suprisingly tight cylinder fitting / timing. Nice DAO trigger pull.38 special only.

Some cute young ladies running around with pink tops with "Kestryll's Girls" printed on the back. I went on a photo hunt for them when I had a chance but no luck finding them. I am sure Kes was there in spirit to watch over all us CGs and make sure we were good boys.

Coolest Cal-Legal? Not much really. I am still excited that Kel-Tec knows about BBs and seems willing to make these factory-installed so we can buy their products. Perhaps this will be the trend as other companies figure out what's going on here.

The KAC tour was the highlight of the show, and it wasn't even at the show!

What tour group were you in? I didn't realize any other Calgunners went to that.

I actually liked the Colt stock design, very compact and not too uncomfortable given the size and purpose.

I saw their booth but didn't see the girls. I giggled about that too.

I think the coolest CA legal news from SHOT has yet to be announced, so stay tuned .

I think by the time I finally found where the heck the buses were picking up I ended up leaving around 4:15-4:30ish. I ended up sleeping on the ride out there so I don't remember when I got there but it was just starting to get dark. I was in a group with a couple of the Magpul guys and a Dutch magazine editor. Next SHOT we'll have to plan a CG meetup one of the nights.

Absolutely, I regret not taking the initiative and setting it up myself . I had an impromptu meetup with Wes and Ryan from 10% and JK Supply, and there were a couple other awesome Calgunners working some of the booths (you know who you are!) but we need to mimic what ARFcom did and have a big dinner bash. Perhaps GeoVario can sponsor one as well .

                  Count me in.
I'm already starting to look at timeshares for next year. It looks like they're moving SHOT 10 to the Sands. In Vegas we should have a plethora of options for meet up options.

Hey, do they allow guys to pack in there? I am assuming yes...

Big negative. I heard on Arfcom someone had a ND last year, so this year they posted that weapons were not allowed and all firearms inside SHOT had to be signed off and flagged as have their firing pins removed.
However, it's not like anyone was checking at the door but if the SHOT organizers found out someone was packing I think they'd ask them to leave.
                      Here's the rules:

That requires them to find out.

The ND that *allegedly* happened was *allegedly* one of the display guns at the show, which an employee had *allegedly* been carrying outside the show. It was not a personal attendee's CCW piece.

I knew guys at the show carrying 2-4 pieces on them. I recommend following the show's rules and obeying the law above all else, but the two aren't mutually inclusive.

I had no idea other Calgunners were there.
I only have a couple of phone pics:
Remington Target Tactical. 26" Triangle barrel with 5R rifling

                            Dillon 50BMG press

                            Cool stock at Remington's booth.

Lot's of cool new things there. I was surprised how elaborate many of the booths were; Nikon built a whole house in there.
Of course I had to complain to the guys at HK about the 416, and while talking to others (Not HK PR guys) it seems I'm not alone in my negative experience with the rifle.
I think my favorite might be body armor that continually takes vitals and alerts when an officer is hurt and gives the exact location down to which floor and room they're in, whether they're alive, and gives you enough info to determine how soon you need to get to them.

x2. I was with a group and everyone was packing.

SHOT doesn't really enforce the rules too much. You're not supposed to take photos unless you have a media pass, but no one enforces that either.

The TROY humvee was pretty awesome too. They had a remote turreted M1A tracking people as they walked by. Pretty cool.

I also tried my best to get some of the handgun makers like STI to sell frames to Ca; The unanimous response is "we'll wait and see how things play out." For now we still gotta go third party, nobody wants to be the first.
