General observations:
Lots of concern on Obama's pending plans, but everyone had a different plan they were worried about...anti-semi auto, anti-everything that shoots, microstamping, huge ammo taxes and more. Tons of FUD and everyone seems to have forgotten the Heller decision already.
But, perhaps everyone is just feeding the buying frenzy. Black rifle and component parts builders are maxed out on manufacturing capacity now. Ammo sales are brisk. Sales of EBRs in all colors were brisk.
Kel Tec has a few new guns, and they said they will make a factory installed BB for their new bullpup for us CA gun buyers.
Taurus is going to try to get a version of their 24/7 type guns CA approved. The mag disconnect is easy and already done, they are working on the LCI requirements now with the BOF.
Ruger LCR (their answer to the J frame) was odd looking but good for a harsh environment real world use gun. 13.5 ounces and $525 retail. 38 + P rated, trigger felt a lot like a Smith 442/ 642 model, with a stack just at the end of the pull. Crane lockup was at the front of the ejector rod and cylinder rear, it did not use a GP100 / SP101 / Redhawk crane lock system.
Lots of activity with these. Ruger even had a second booth in the Law Enforcement / Military area with one of these fitted with a set of Laser Grips already.
The SCAR was nice to handle but whats with all the wobbly telescoping butt stocks out there..and here too on this new improved rifle?
Speaking with the Springfield Armory technician who shoots their M1A rifle products a lot, the Socoms are truly CQB rifles and won't usually shoot much better than 3-4" at 100 yards. (Same as a Mini-14).
The Scouts are 2-3" rifles at 100 yards and he prefers these overall.
The longer barrels can be even better, and of course you can buy the upgraded packages too.
Victorinox finally has single blade one handed openers! And it seems there is a minimalist version with a one hand opening main blade with both phillips and flat blade screwdrivers on it. There was a Swiss guy there custom building pocketknives for the big order placers. Boxes of blades, tools, rivets, pins, liners and scales, all put together before your eyes and pressed into place with a custom vise. Lots of other new knives, and clever new multi tools from Gerber and Leatherman.
Officially, this is a "no photos" show, but if you ask permission, you can usually get an OK.
