I've done reasonably well in life but am also a cheap bastard and rarely convince myself to spend money on personal pleasures. I only want what I can convince myself I need. If I ever move to Chicago I will probably buy a Sherman tank.

        Modest accumulation.

Financially I was doing OK until I discovered Dan Wesson 1911s.

Small collection of things I enjoy that I slowly add to. Small house with a small payment. I don't live paycheck to paycheck. I don't find attention seeking on a forum sexy.

And therein lies the problem with the 2A in California and the world in general. To many people guns are just things to collect, accessorize, "play" with and whatnot; they're not serious, life and death things. People talk about how much more their house, family and other things are more important, but they forget that the "guns" are there to protect those things, not just accessorize them, unless of course you don't look at guns in that way and would rather rely on the police to protect you..

It doesn't matter what hobbie I have, golf, fishing, reef tanks, guns or custom motorcycles, and it doesn't matter how much money my wife and I make, we're always poor because we have kids. That's my reason and I'm stickin to it.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I have a few nice guns. No debt. Everything is paid for. I am self employed and have been for most of my working life outside of the Army.

Saving money to buy a house out of state. But have dipped into that fund to pick up a few more firearms items.

Don't get me started on the health insurance issue. As I mentioned above, I am self employed and have no insurance. I have been paying the fine. Thankfully I have been very healthy all my life.

I live modestlyin a modest house. Nothing special. Happy what I am able to afford. Trying not to overspend on "toys" but sometimes I get overzealous.

I have everything I need, but not everything I want.

                            I'm close though...

Now I'm righted with a very modest collection of what I like. Do I see guns posted on her and get antsy to pull out the credit card? Sure. But I'm far more realistic about what i will actually do with said gun if I were to buy it. So I hold off.
That perfectly describes me too. Been downsizing the collection for a while and I'm shocked (and a little relieved) at how empty my safe is now.

With that said, I'm never going to totally disarm and the guy above who is down to four guns total... That seems really excessive too lol
