Im a familiar with this story. From what I hear, 18 year old kid was from out of town and met up at a Truck Club meet. They were probably drag racing or having a sideshow. Then cops rolled up to break up the unlawful assembly. This kid took off from the scene with his passenger and an unmarked car followed him for more than 30 miles. Then this happened.

Im sure this kid panic since he was not from the area, but his involvement and actions got him killed. This reminds me when I was young and dumb living in the bay area. I used to go out to the south bay/east bay racing scene (Montague 500) and I made this same type of choices out chasing girls and watching street races. But this kid is now dead.

I don't know too much about the protocols with an unmarked car pulling over or chasing a car meet participant. Don't know what happen to led up to the unmarked car interacting with the driver, but now his parents got a call no parent wants to have.

I believe they handle auto theft along with many other duties. No clue if that's related to this incident or not. I do know the CHP is responsible for WAY more than just speeding tickets on the highways.

Probably car theft chop shop type stuff. Seems they have been cracking down on sideshows and illegal street racing groups too.

If somebody followed me in my tricked out whip for that long and then tried to block me in a cul de sac I'd probably hit the gas too thinking I was about to get jacked. An 18 year old kid is dead because of some bull**** investigation like that?

You probably didnt draw the group you desired because usually the killing of an un-armed teenager aka bg is frowned upon. I really dont know much abt this other than what i briefly heard on the news.

He allegedly tried ramming his truck into chp, they feared for their lives but at the same time somehow were able to place 3 good shots, while jumping/running out of the way. Its probably justified, dash cam may tell true tale.

There was no dashcam footage or body cameras. The undercover vehicle did not have one. I could care less about racing or sideshows EXCEPT when it puts non participants at risk. I have no sympathy or mercy for immature people racing on public streets in areas putting others at risk. Like Paul Walker situation, deserted side streets, they wanted to play around and it cost them their life.
