someone with intent could sharpen that dull knife in less than a minute...all you need is a rock, which, incidentally, after you use it to sharpen the knife you could then use the rock to bash in someone's head too

take away the knives and the violence will continue, only with yet another object

On top of that, a wound caused by plunging that thing in someone would be much more painful and much more deadly.
