This "USED" to be a joke

The old, what next joke, of the UK disarming housewives by taking their knives away?

Just when I thought the limeys couldn't get any stupider.

Kitchen knives are being used in as many as half of all stabbings in the United Kingdom and has prompted a group of doctors to call for a ban on long pointed kitchen knives
In the decade following the Labor party's election and banning of handguns in 1997, the number of recorded violent attacks soared by 77% to 1.2 million in '07- or more than 2 attacks every minute!
    In the US

    Police

    794,300
    total police officers

    11%
    error rate

    14.3
    avg. deaths of a shooting
    rampage stopped by police

    606
    criminals killed each year

    [insert applause here for cops]

    Armed Citizen

    80,000,000
    gun owning citizens

    2%
    error rate

    2.3
    avg. deaths of a shooting
    rampage stopped by a citizen

    1,527
    criminals killed each year

[insert applause here for armed citizens, because cops can't be everywhere]

Lots of good solid pro 2A info in the link folks............USE IT.

"Surrender your knife, save a life"

"Researchers “consulted 10 top chefs from around the UK, and found such knives have little practical value in the kitchen. None of the chefs felt such knives were essential, since the point of a short blade was just as useful when a sharp end was needed.”
"In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."

I've stabbed my self accidently both with sharp chefs knives and dull flat tipped screw drivers over the years. I'll take a sharp point and edge any day versus a ripping puncture.

(Yes I do most of the cooking)

          Respectfully

We had safety scissors in kindergarten. By the 2nd grade, the scissors were pointy. Yet, I have no recollection of anyone being stabbed by them. I did get stuck in the face with a flying pointy pencil once. Nearly hit me in the eye!

Ban the pointy Pencils! Ban Pointy everything!

I know they have the knife surrendering thing, I wonder if they have buybacks though? Just get some sheet metal, tin snips, and maybe a file if you want to make something resembling an edge and rake in the cash(or supermarket giftcards to spend on TP).

But yes, leave it to the UK to want to ban a sharp piece of metal... ffs...

someone with intent could sharpen that dull knife in less than a minute...all you need is a rock, which, incidentally, after you use it to sharpen the knife you could then use the rock to bash in someone's head too

take away the knives and the violence will continue, only with yet another object

i could kill a person with bubble wrap if i had the intent to do so

Knife crimes are so prevalent in London that there are posters everywhere saying "bin the knife" meaning toss your edged weapon into a trash bin. What the posters don't indicate is if the knife using criminal should toss the knife before or after using the knife to rob someone.

A bench grinder could fix that in a hurry. Regardless, it wouldn't have saved Corporal Lee Rigby.

As long there are two men left on earth and one rock, there will be violence.
