    Lapierre's NRA Speech

A lot of good points brought up by Lapierre:

    What say you CG?

Here is a link to the speech:

I would prefer an actual shooter/hunter/gun owner to Wayne. His rhetoric comes off as very rehearsed and fake. But he has some powerful beltway connections in a career of lobbying.

As much as I hate identity politics it would be nice to have someone that doesn't reaffirm the stereotype that gun owners are just old white guys.

      I agree.
I would like to see a rebranding of the NRA. They could have a big media campaign with commercials featuring men women children of different races, ages, and economic backgrounds all enjoying a shooting sport of some kind, and stating how they are NRA members. Like that old NIKE commercial where everybody stated "I am Michael Jordan"

SCENE a hunter in camo with rifle in the forest, turns to camera
      Hunter: I am the NRA.

SCENE: an Asian woman at a competition rifle match, hits a bullseye, turns to camera
      Woman: I am the NRA

SCENE: a LBGTQ person practicing at an indoor range, fires, turns to camera
LBGTQ person: I am the NRA.

SCENE: a happy family, plinking out in the desert, daughter takes a shot and knocks over a tin can, whole family smiling turns to camera
      Family: We are the NRA!

Isn't there some pro 2a asian woman running for senate somewhere that escaped Mao, and that is why she thinks citizens should be armed?

If I wasn't deathly afraid of public speaking/spot light, I would do this as a brown person (born here, heritage Indian from India).

Also as much as I think this is a good idea, remember the pink pistols exist. Last time they spoke up, Gavin tried to silence them. We would have to do what the Bernie bots do, and force the media somehow to pay attention to us and give us a positive spin. Which sounds like wishful thinking

I wont go into my usual tirade about the NRA, but I will ask the question, where are the billboards against these proposed laws in Commiefornia? The NRA which has plenty of money and support assets in place, reputedly the most powerful lobby in DC, yet where is thier influence? The gay marriage folk had builboards, and signs on the sides of city buses, and radio spots. Where is the NRA?

            No one knows...

                D Walker:

A quick question. Are you a member of the NRA?

Not anymore. I prefer to spend my money with groups that are actually involved, like the RMGO.

Rocky Mountain Gun Owners is the Colorado affiliate of the National Association for Gun Rights, a non-profit organization under section...

So how can we tell if the person is LGBT in the commercial?

You do not, for example, see the NRA doing this :

Banning Businesses Welcome to Rocky Mountain Gun Owner’s Merchant Awareness Program, where we do our part to make Colorado safer by educating businesses about the dangers of creating a “Criminal Safezone” in their establishment. Put bluntly, we believe Colorado is a safer place with free, law-abiding citizens carrying firearms. Concealed or open carry, it makes […]

Where businesses are outed for anti-gun policies and members encouraged to not patronize them.
