The first shot is usually the most important, so your question is subjective

Follow up shots, speed and accuracy takes allot more training

i feel like every time i go now (try to go every week but usually ends up 3 times a month) i take 2 handguns in the same caliber and one rifle. 250 rounds for the handguns and 100 for the rifle. If i was loaded i would be shooting more but I'm content with those numbers.

To answer your question, yes i think if you go twice a month you can become a decent shooter.
