Try to go once a week but I think realistically I go twice a month. I too suffer from the 'bring too many' mentality. Switching between different weapons, it can take at least a few shots to get back in the groove. That makes putting all rounds in one ragged hole difficult.

I generally shoot more to have fun than for the tightest group. If I shot slow and really focused I could probably do a lot better. As it is, I can fairly easily shoot my pistol rounds within a six inch circle and I'm cool with that for casual range fun.

I usually bring at least 100 rounds per firearm if I'm bringing a few. If I focus on one or two weapons, I might double that and bring 200 each. I get to the point where I'm just blasting off rounds if I try and shoot any more than that. Still having fun, but not focused enough...

I was going 3-4 times a month. Now, I go maybe two times a month. I usually stay a long time about 4 hours or more. I shoot around 300 rounds, mostly 5.56, but I also practice with 9mm and .308 a lot. Occasionally, I'll shoot .45 or .22LR.

If the kids and the wife go too, then ammo gets really expensive.

EDIT: The outdoor range has a waiting list a lot of the time, so it's a little less fun.

sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

The desert is getting too hot, BLM will close in June. That's when I show up at the range.

I usually go a couple times a week to my club's range, sometimes for matches and sometimes for practice. Since it is close and available 24/7, I shoot fewer rounds per trip than most. Sometimes, I only shoot half a dozen rounds just to check my zero before a hunting trip.

Atleast 8 times per month . Round count varries depending on what I'm shooting .

I'm not a great shooter myself but 20 years seems like a VERY long time.

Once a week 100 rounds of .22 and then 100 of 9 mm. .45 or perhaps .357. I also get in an hour or so or dry fire at home several times a week.

I hate it when I send a text or a forum post from my "smart" phone without double checking the words.

OP, more rounds fired are better than less but it's all meaningless unless you critique yourself each trip and strive to improve each time. Decent shooter? Now that's a very ambiguous label. It all depends on what you consider decent. Nothing wrong with sending rounds down range having fun but if you truly aspire to be a better shooter you have to set a goal for each trip and do what it takes to improve.

Generally 2 to 3 times a month. Or as often as I can get a booking

Think, don't plink. Make sure that every round you shoot in practice has a purpose.
