i went to big 5 last week they have ****, they are selling Shot ammo now though.Comment

Check ted paul for an SKS. He tends to keep 1 in stock but likes to charge a pretty good amount. (I guess no more than Big 5uck does though)
Knight did you get the mossberg from Kevin's shop? My buddy bought the one with the gigantic comp on the end of the thing so I was wondering who got the other 2. Kevin kept one for himself, sold one to a friend and I wondered where the third went.Comment

didnt even see that mossberg last time i was in there shooting. The long gun collection was mighty weak though...i guess thats a good thing for kevin, people are buying.
anyone know why he was closed today (wed 2.19.09)?
Sent my friend down there that just bought a .416 for the transfer since its out of state and he said he called all day from 10 am on and no answer.
He then called bucksport and talked to Todd but was told he has to come in and pay first before they fax their ffl to the seller. lol, now hes really pissed as he was at work in blue lake and couldnt leave.
They told him the reason you have to pay first is because in the past people did the transfer and then dont come into pickup the gun and then they dont get paid.
??????
I would think that would mean a free gun for Bucksport which in my eyes would be alot better than the $75 they charge for the transfer.Last edited by what2be; 02-19-2009, 10:33 PM.Comment

Hi!
Just wanted to reply to a few points here...
1 - If you spoke to Jack Eaves and he has no problem with you diseminating information, great. At a meeting with Don Brandon, the Redwood Gun Club Executive Board was ASKED to keep much of the information confidential. I know a couple other people that were also ASKED to keep information confidential pending determination of any criminal or civil charges to be filed against the former SRA member.
So if Poogsdad was keeping details confidential (and I don't know what person Poogsdad may actually be..), I suspect he was asked to by Don or Jack.
If you got permission to talk about details - fine. Many of us that have been asked to keep the details to ourselves pending legal actions have not heard any different yet, so I for one will continue treating that information as private.
2- You're welcome to shoot .50's and simillar at Redwood's range. Just not to punch holes in our gongs. The last time we replaced them, they cost us nearly $500 and many hours labor by club volunteers. Last time we allowed .50's at the gong, the 18" gong was split in half in 8 rounds.
If you would like to shoot your own gong, you're welcome to. Call our Club Executive Officer, Dan, to arrange that.
Otherwise, you're welcome to shoot paper with your .50 at our range.
If you were "yelled at" by a Club Rangemaster for shooting paper with a .50, please comply with the rangemasters requests, but contact a member of the Board - we will make sure the Rangemaster in question is not confused about our policy.
3- Simpson has not been a "public" range in almost 4 years. They have been restricted to members only except for matches and events. However, the enforcement of this rule has varied - until now. Now it will be more strictly enforced. This was from Simpson/Green Diamond, and was NOT subject to negotiation.
4- Redwood Gun Club requires NRA membership to be a Club member. We get our club insurance through NRA, the ONLY insurance available to gun clubs. No insurance, no club. Period.
If you don't like NRA's policies and practices; you're not alone. Become a member, and VOTE in NRA elections. It's an association of it's members.
Still; no Gun Club Insurance, No gun club. So we require NRA membership.
I'm going to miss the greater than 300 yd shooting as well!
There apparently is some hope that longer yardages MAY be reopened later, but PROBABLY not this year.
Lastly;
If we at Redwood seem a bit "stuffy" or "limiting" in what we allow - it's because we recognise (more now than ever) how FAST one jackass can get a range closed.
Those of us that have heard the full story know that it's a flat fracking MIRACLE that the SRA's range is EVER reopened at ALL to ANYONE.
There are people that flat out busted their asses for two months to negotiate reopening that range, and it took everything short of sacrificing a goat to do it (and I'm not looking too close at that stain on one guys desk....).
The people involved should get a medal! (the bunghole rangemaster back in november should get prison time... but that's not my call...).

Just amazed, someone could be so stupid and pissed off that once again, ONE stupid idiot ****s it up for the rest of us.
Too bad about the NRA thing, SCREEEEW the NRA and their compromising attitude. No Compromise!
Old Heston saying that we have no rights to military weapons, while he had like 5 tommy guns and all sorts of full auto stuff in his basement showroom. I hope that hypocrite is in hell, unarmed and outnumbered.
So does the simpson range require you to sell out in order to shoot?Comment

Paul, I hear you about the "one jackass ruining it." I was there the day that the guy with the lever action slam fired a round through the roof and hit the ladies house/fireplace. That day was scary.sigpic

I guess I was wrong, somebody doesn't like the NRA. They are the only people as sellout as they may be who will back gun ranges with insurance, so if you want to drop that support too, watch our precious hobby go down the tubes with no legal gun ranges. That means spending more money on benches and trying to find public land out there and setting up our own targets and guestimating distances. Just agree to disagree and be on your way with it.Comment
