Well, the word I got today is the Simpson gun range is officially closed.
I talked to my friend that works at Simpson and heres the story behind it (and its almost unbeliveable someone is this stupid)..Its no wonder they closed the range.
For those not familiar with the range, it is owned and ran by Simpson timber company, for its employees, but anyone can become a member. They had many competition shoots throughout the year and it was the only long distance range in the area (600 yards).
Apparently, 2 foresters for Green Diamond (the parent company that owns simpson) went down the the range, put a lock on the door into the range, put yellow tape all over the range, and put a sign up saying the range is closed for survey work.
They then drove down the range to the 200yard targets and parked their pickup and proceeded to survey the forest surrounding the range.
Lo and behold, a few hours later, some DUMBASS that was a range master came onto the range property, decided he wanted to shoot, so he broke the lock off the door to the range, cut down the yellow tape and proceeded to start shooting at the 100 yard mark.
Shortly after he started shooting, the 2 foresters came yelling out of the woods that they were surveying and that the range was closed, and that their truck was parked at the 200 yard mark on the range.
The reply from the range master was that their truck was fine since he was shooting at the 100 yard targets, not the 200 yard targets.
Not sure what happened after that, but it sounds like the foresters went back to the office that day and reported it to their boss, who told someone high up and they made the decision to close the range for good.
I hope that range master shoots himself in the *** when hes cleaning his gun for screwing it up for the rest of us.
