Why FDE?

When I built my sons AR he wanted fde, a name that I hated then. I went to my lgs and asked for brown magazines and he said he didn't have any. After looking around I asked him what those brown mags were for and he said that they weren't brown, they were faded dark earth. I just stared at him in awe for a few seconds and left. I do like the color but I hate the term "fde" even more now.

I really like the color. My favorite AR is FDE with black accents and EOTech. Next LR308 I'm building will be in gray

What you should really be asking is... why pink?

That looks like my wife's Colt M4 .22LR. Her's has the adjustable stock but it's all purple. Sort of a Prince gun.

Nothing important here. Just wondering why so many people like their guns in FDE? I hate it. HATE it. I think its one of the ugliest darn colors I've ever seen - especially on a gun. Yet people go nuts for it. FDE guns sell for more than standard black or stainless guns.

I dunno, just wondering out loud I guess. Chime in if you want. If you like FDE let me know why. Just personal preference? Some other reason?

I like all my guns. Black, fed, gray and pink. Built my daughter a pink furniture ar, and just built a gray one for my son. Does it matter that she's 3 and he's 1? Hahah

They are... less thermal drift since FDE absorbs less heat than black... its basic science.
