I went with FDE on the magazines and grip of my 300 blackout so that hopefully I never cross load the wrong magazine in the wrong gun, all the .223/5.56 is standard black.

I like od green and fde, but i prefer fde. My grandfather fought in Korea and Vietnam. I still have photos of him in country wearing od green. I did two tours in Iraq in 06 and 07. Whenever i see od gear, i have this nostalgic feeling about his war. When i see fde, i get the same nostalgic feeling about my war. I'm not saying that the Iraq war was fun or justified, but i see fde and i remember the men than fought beside me. It's the color of my war and of my sacrifice.

My AR is a range toy. When I built it in '08, I wanted something that looked a little different, so I put FDE furniture on it (and the FDE trend hadn't ramped up yet). I liked it then, I like it now.

FDE is for those who do Sniper duty in the desert and ODG is for the same folks/work in the jungle warfare. Buying those guns just to shoot at the city range does not make you an Operator of any kind. They just look cheap and K-Marty and in most cases accentuate the plastic looks of most guns (read Glock, HK, etc) that come in those colors.

Guns are supposed to be Blued, black, or stainless. Otherwise they look like cheap imported plastic Chinese toys. Well, unless if you are a ninja.
