I was 100yds away when some guys lit off 8lbs of tannerite under a riding lawnmower.
The only thing that got past us was a small piece of sheetmetal.
The rest of the parts that we could still identify were mostly within 75yds of the blast crater.
I don't know where the engine case went, but we found the camshaft.

Tannerite I've shot was awesome. That said anyone with any brains would not attach it to something that would send shrapnel. Sorry about that guys injuries but the outcome should have been obvious.

At that point, you might very well be safer with MORE rather than LESS.

Hopefully the more would break larger parts into smaller parts.

As for me, blowing up a vehicle like a ride on lawnmower is stupider than I ever want to go. Vehicles will concentrate the explosion enough to get the shrapnel taking off in dangerous trajectories.

I'm guessing it's lawnmower shrapnel bouncing off the ground at high speed. That news report tried to make it seem unusually dangerous and extreme. Sure, it's dangerous, just like shooting is, but it isn't going to take your leg off unless you do something really stupid, like packing it into something that transforms into shrapnel on explosion.
