Another incident that proves the importance of body cams .__________________________________________________ _____________

Exactly. The inscription has nothing to do with the shooting, but it will be used to divert the attention of a jury to the maturity and the mindset possessed by the officer.Yes it does. And it has nothing to do with the facts.
However just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD, and this is a perfect example why.
This is a good example of an attorney spinning something, which is their job. They don't have to prove anything, but if enough jurors fall his spin, he did his job regardless of actual facts.sigpicComment

Sad that this is true. It should stop at whether or not the shooting was justified. But they are there to serve their careers, not justice.Yes it does. And it has nothing to do with the facts.

My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.Comment

And if it causes a police officer (who has the whole department backing him) grief, imagine what it would cause for a regular citizen.
Rather amusing when someone counters with, "No one tells me what I can or can't do to my gun" or, "Using handloads won't turn a good shoot into a bad shoot." Logically, it won't but when you're charged & prosecuted, logic won't be part of the equation.Comment

Exactly. Why complicate your own defense by using handloads or stupid inscriptions? Even if it's a clean shoot, lawyers will always try to make things difficult. If the perp lives or has family, why complicate your civil suit by leaving an opportunity for them to paint you as trigger happy? And if it causes a police officer (who has the whole department backing him) grief, imagine what it would cause for a regular citizen.

Logically, it won't but when you're charged & prosecuted, logic won't be part of the equation. If you need help with any stragglers, call a friend, because it's likely that they have a gun. America in particular have done exceptionally well taking care of the problem, as there are 1.12 guns for every 1 American citizen. So throw a rock, you'll probably hit a gun, pick up that gun, then shoot a zombie.Comment

Absolutely. Predicting the sky will fall when it has yet to happen only tends to stir the pot...which, in California, has already been well stirred.

Uh...And if it causes a police officer (who has the whole department backing him) grief, imagine what it would cause for a regular citizen.
Rather amusing when someone counters with, "No one tells me what I can or can't do to my gun" or, "Using handloads won't turn a good shoot into a bad shoot." Logically, it won't but when you're charged & prosecuted, logic won't be part of the equation.
In this instance, the cop is "caused grief" because it initially appears that the incident was not a "good" shoot.
Logically, you'll be criminally prosecuted in a "bad" shoot, and, equally logically, you won't be billed in a "good" shoot.
The fact remains that NO one has ever been criminally prosecuted following a "good" shoot for gun modifications, and / nor for the kind of ammunition used in the shoot.
Logic fails.Exactly. Why complicate your own defense by using handloads or stupid inscriptions? Even if it's a clean shoot, lawyers will always try to make things difficult. If the perp lives or has family, why complicate your civil suit by leaving an opportunity for them to paint you as trigger happy?
Once again, in a clean shoot, you won't be dealing with a criminal prosecutor.
I would assume that after a good shoot, a civil suit will start. That's why I have an attorney, and that's why I have plenty of insurance. You'll be accused of everything, including trigger happiness. That's simply plaintiff's attorney doing his job.True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.
Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

"...which from their verbosity, their endless tautologies, their involutions of case within case, and parenthesis within parenthesis, and their multiplied efforts at certainty by saids and aforesaids, by ors and by ands, to make them more plain, do really render them more perplexed and incomprehensible, not only to common readers, but to lawyers themselves. You're killin' me. Is this a St. Patty's day prank for "Irish Joe"?WTF? There are no jurors at this point. Just a judge. It was a bail release hearing.
The Chief of Police is moving to fire the dude. Where did you get the idea the whole department is backing him?

Yep. Whether by policy or by common sense.
By common sense?
I'm always having people I meet on the street ask my opinion of candidates for the City Council.
Answer is always the same, I don't live here, you do. I'm trying to make this a more pleasant city to drive in. You have to live and shop here. You have to vote for the candidate that you feel best represents your interests as a resident.
By policy?
