That stuff is fine for range toys, but for anything that you may seriously have to use to take a human life with, either in the line of duty or self-defense, you want it to reflect the fact that it's owned by a person with maturity and good judgment who is only using the weapon as a last resort to defend himself or others from death or severe bodily harm.
If your conduct as a police officer in a shooting was such that your own police chief has serious concerns, and your department has begun the formal termination process, the fact that you engraved "You're f-cked" on your dust cover is probably just icing on the cake.
That said, some of them are kinda funny, in a "Might be worth $12.99 for a SHTF gun / Range Toy" way, but not for anything you'd ever use on duty or for home defense.

And people wonder why they shouldn't lighten the trigger pull or be using reloads or 80%'s for SD. It looks like the shooting was not justified, but, even if it was, the dust cover inscription is causing a lot of unnecessary grief. If you need help with any stragglers, call a friend, because it's likely that they have a gun. America in particular have done exceptionally well taking care of the problem, as there are 1.12 guns for every 1 American citizen. So throw a rock, you'll probably hit a gun, pick up that gun, then shoot a zombie.Comment

So looking @ this, to me, it looks like unprofessionalism... yes, he was off-duty, but is still a cop. that is a job, you don't just leave at work... Makes all the rest of the cops look bad as well....
I was in the military, and even when we weren't at work, we still had to maintain some kind of regulated behavior.... if we didn't it would reflect badly upon all military members, and we would definitely have to answer for being a douchebag to our superiors...."It is currently CA legal to modify a double-action revolver into a single-action revolver and modify a single-action revolver into a double-action revolver.
CA DOJ BOF stance on modifying handguns only applies to dimensionally compliant bolt-action single-shot pistols and dimensionally compliant break-open single-shot pistols.
^It does not apply to revolvers, manually operated repeating pistols, and semi-auto pistols." ~~ QuietComment

It's lame. Only the most discerning mall ninjas feels the need for a few punisher skulls and hyper aggressive phrases on their operating tactical weapons.Comment

Having something like this written/engraved on a firearm has zero to do with 80%'s or reloads in self defense.
My family has been using self made firearms for defense since at least the Seven Years War (French and Indian). I know this as I have them (yes more then one). Never has this been a problem, of course we do not put stupid quotes and such on them.
I have been hearing this reload SD myth since for over 30 years and have never seen any evidence in it.
Same for the trigger pull thing.
I carry a self made firearm with a lightened trigger pull and it is loaded with re-loads I made myself.Comment

Assuming a "good shoot", there have been zero criminal prosecutions related to gun modifications (including trigger pull) and / or ammunition used.
Even Ayoob cannot cite a case.
I do the same. If a modification can improve my shooting, especially in life / death situations, why wouldn't I take advantage of it?Having something like this written/engraved on a firearm has zero to do with 80%'s or reloads in self defense.

If it's a civil suit, remember that anybody can be sued at anytime for anything...that's why we carry insurance.
Stupidity like this shows up here on a weekly basis.

Huh?Read more: http://www.cbs5az.com/story/31480834...#ixzz43AteOphLThe Mesa police officer charged with second-degree murder for an on-duty shooting...
The officer was on duty, responding to a call, armed with a personal AW which had been approved by his agency for duty use. Then he (allegedly) shot a kneeling guy 5 times. What is written on the gun didn't get him here.....but it's certainly going to be used to make him (and the PD) pay.said Shaver was on his hands and knees when Brailsford shot him five times inside a Mesa hotel.Comment

I think it's a stretch to say that having "surprise! cock ***" inscribed on your dust cover is proof of intent.
Pointing this out and given what the lawyer is saying it's pretty clear that the lawyer is hoping to poison the thought process that revolves around reviewing the facts by suggesting that having punisher logos on your magazine is intent to commit murder.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment
