    DOJ-ATF Seized property notices

So this morning I was browsing the WSJ (Wall St Journal) on the can as I usually do....and decided to read the DOJ-BATF seizure notices....which I had never done before

I notice some cool BYPASSING PROFANITY FILTER - REMOVED guns in the CA seizures..... various AR-15's, FN FS-2000, FN PS90, Sig 556.....

Appraised value was $250 on all of them.... except $1400 for the sig 556....wow $250 for a FS2000 or PS90?

Either way....what happens to these unclaimed weapons? destroyed? or is there some sort of auction for seized government property?

That section in the WSJ is very lengthy! I often wondered about that myself. Were these guns legal, stolen, etc when seized? I don't know. Can they be bought by qualified citizens? I don't know.

Heck, I would show up at their front door with cash for all the PS90's that they would let me have at $250 each !!!!!

ETA: WSJ = Wall Street Journal

            Wall Street Journal

Probably deliberately undervalued so they can justify destroying them instead of dealing with the budget deficits by auctioning them.

When I worked all seized weapons from those forbidden to be in possession were destroyed in fact many of them were melted down & turned into rebar. One agency had a bunch of thompson sub guns that were ordered destroyed & they were melted down, they could've traded them to the feds for lots of useable property but the suits never thought of that.

Yeah, not "politically correct" to sell the weapons back to us. They would rather give us IOU's come tax refund time

If they weapons were stolen shouldn't they go back to their legal owners? If they are destroyed doesnt the agency who destroyes them have to reimburse the legal owner for loss of property?

In the article in the rebar thread it said that CA law says that all confiscated guns have to be destroyed.

Does that include guns owned by people who are acquitted?

I had a weapon stolen from my vehicle several years ago. It was recovered about a year later in a jewelery heist. I got it back from the victorville S.O. (originally stolen in riverside) I just thought that they all went like that. Huh. good to know.

Sometimes those guns don't belong to criminals.

My local ATF SA came to my house to hand me my guns that were on consignment at a gun shop that had their license yanked.

If I were 95 and in my grave, ATF would have to dispose those guns off somehow.

these are unclaimed property notices....so I assume its from people who had them seized, but then were not charged or acquitted and haven't bothered to pick them up yet.....

man if I had a FS-2000 or PS90 sitting there, i'd picked it up the first day available
