Now, that is a first class scum bag any way you want to look at it.
There are all kinds of them and they pull one thing or another.
I once drove from Malibu to West Covina to buy. That is a 50 mile drive one way in LA's traffic. A guy posted for a couple of 1911s as being in 95% (according to Blue Book) condition or better. He could not post or send pictures but he assures me they are almost like new. So I figure a fellow Calgun member and gave it the benefit of the doubt. Not a great deal but I wanted one of them and figured I'll use the other one for just range or parts.
He shows up with both 1911s and 4 mags crammed into a very small and bulging tupperware case (like Glock's). He forgot to mention that the 95% was refering to the part(s) that are dinged up and scarred and the 5% was the part that looked almost new.
How is that not a fraud, or a misrepresentation of goods or me not ripped off or not loosing money driving a 100 miles round trip of 4 hours?? Am I supposed to give that jerk a "Neutral" rating??
If that deserves a "Neutral" then please someone give me an example of what deserves a "Negative"???
I let it go only because I could not get myself to type/write the profanity that I was thinking about.Last edited by heidad01; 01-25-2016, 11:21 AM.Comment

You wouldn't believe the stories I could tell. Like people asking me to travel to Fresno from LA and then admitting they didn't have all the money. Or having me waste a half days plans to meet them and then they lowball me in the shop before the ppt.
Or asking if I'd do a PPT on an item I had on Gunbroker, winning, then flaking and never again return a email or call after hearing all these stories about how wealthy he was all the guns he owns and how everyone at Retting is his best friend. That alone should have set off my BS alarm and spidey senses.Comment

Ahem...
This was a chime. You might not agree but it's there. There have been multiple threads in the past with similar, if not verbatim, advice.Stand up and be counted, or lay down and be mounted... -Mac

I'd like to see a chime on mods feelings on someone leaving multiple neg retaliatory feedbacks. Why is this not a bannable offense or is it in certain cases? And time and gas isn't a financial loss? Leaving someone hanging at a gun shop is different than a phone or email flake. Even those can be damaging I've taken time off my work or life to do PPT's before.
So if I made arrangements to take a couple of hours off a day or two before due to a deal being struck and the other person backs out last min via PM or email (they never call they aren't man enough to do so) that can also cause hardship.Comment

Thanks for the note.
Sorry I missed that. I guess because in my mind, "Noshows", "Re-negotiators", "scum bags who do not keep their word" and "Neutral" are mutually exclusive terms.Comment

That I'd say is a pretty firm nuetral.
If I drive somewhere, and lose money over the fuel and bridge tolls I burnt to get there, and they don't show, I'm damned sure leaving a negative.
But then again, I don't bother setting up a meeting if the person has even a bit of shady feel to their communication. I had ONE time that I was selling a $4,000 rifle to a guy, and we had the deal worked out down to the time and place of transfer, and he then started getting fidgety about price. I called it off, no questions asked, "Nope, never mind, I don't want to deal with you." Not worth the time, and I'm not desperate to sell.
He wound up talking me in to it, and it went off just fine and he showed with the cash on time and all went well, but if I hadn't had another reason to go to that shop on that day, I wouldn't have.
A couple hours of time and a quarter tank or more of fuel is certainly lost money. I have no problem driving a ways to sell something, if a deal is worked out and agreed upon. I've driven 3 hours one way to sell a couple of Python's to someone else, and to southern California for a special C&R I wanted. Both went off perfectly. I guess I've been lucky, as I've yet to have a bad transaction with a Calgunner. Or maybe I'm just picky about who I deal with.Comment

I wish I did. I bought a gun off a douche cal gunner. I fired half a spam can through it and it failed to fire, failed to eject, feeding problems. More than half the rounds actually fired and cycled properly. He didn't say anything on the thread or During the face to face transaction about a sticky bolt. I found out the hard way.
I'm not one to be a hypocrite and talk ****, I deserved mine. I failed to check the actual bipod itself if it was the correct model. I went off the packaging and didn't double check.Comment

The guy straight-up no-shows, and that doesn't warrant a Negative rating?? Gas costs money, right? You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
Come on...what harm??

Did you let someone know that there were multiple bad feedback left? People are hotheaded, we do give people the benefit of a lot of doubt in some cases. Without having seen it I don't know if a ban was warranted. But if the feedback was removed were you really harmed?I'd like to see a chime on mods feelings on someone leaving multiple neg retaliatory feedbacks. Why is this not a bannable offense or is it in certain cases? And time and gas isn't a financial loss? Leaving someone hanging at a gun shop is different than a phone or email flake. The problem with firearms and condition is that it is very subjective unless you really know how to grade, sometimes it is obvious and sometimes it is he-said she-said. No way to tell and we aren't going to all get together IRL and look at the firearm together. Don't be afraid to ask for more pictures.
Time and gas are a real cost, but it is a baseline cost for doing transactions. If you are worried so much about your time and gas, do more legwork ahead of time that your seller has the goods you want. No shows suck, but life does happen. I always make sure to text day of and hour before when meeting just to remind myself and them.
Happy Hunting! I've had plenty of good deals from the marketplace and with time and patience you will too

My specific case was a no show and multiple retaliatory feedbacks the mods eventually removed and insults and attacks via PM and one public that I did not report I am not a rat. I simply wanted the neg feedbacks removed. I just figured mods would be pissed having to deal with removing retaliatory feedback after the first time. It should be clear your judgement is final.
My only harm was a wasted 2 hours and gas from a no show with a weak excuse and I had been in contact with up to a few hours before the meet. So do I need to call people every 5 mins on the way to a deal to make sure they are still coming? So hotheaded people get a pass? They don't seem to when posting certain things on CGN! Also my seller was strange he has like 47-48 good feedbacks and then ended up getting 2-3 negs in a row I don't know why he started wanting to destroy his reputation.Comment

If you didn't point out the multiple negs, they may have all been handled by different people, so not sure if that part was noticed or not.
I understand it is frustrating, life has its challenges, act as you see fit.

Look at the douche who gave me neutral feedback. Flaky POS made me waste over a month with excuses about his dying mom, kids birthday parties...etc. I had two other buyers ready to go and by the time I finally called that ******* on his bs the other guys had both gone on to other guns.
Still found a buyer eventually but it took a lot longer than I wantedUnless we keep the barbarian virtues, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail. Oversentimentality, oversoftness, washiness, and mushiness are the great dangers of this age and of this people." Teddy Roosevelt

Sober up people and get rid of your Meth buddies and crack pipes.
I wish a Moderator(s) would chime in and explain how they look at it and why they are so much against leaving Neg ratings whenn it is warranted and deserved.
