"As for contributing citizens getting "screwed": in a way, they won't get the endless benefits previous people got but most will still get out more than they paid in." Sounds like a roll of the dice. Good luck getting the people to vote for this outcome not knowing their risks.

"That's why it's going bankrupt: the worker base cannot expand fast and far enough to maintain the pyramid." I don't think that's the only reason. My father and grandfather argued this point of SS would go bankrupt back in the 60's or 70s. I remember them arguing that government was using the huge SS funds for other debts. Listen, the baby boomers contributed a great deal of money into SS and now they are going to want their due.

I'm 24. There will be no money for me in 40 years there really is no question about it.

I can pretty much guarantee more money under my plan than is currently being given for 100% of QUALIFIED candidates.

if you are currently 45-55 you go into a hybrid program where your your full contribution goes into your own fund and at retirement you are supplemented with the 2% general fund if you aren't receiving a reasonable amount.

35-45 is a similar tactic but the numbers would be adjusted slightly. the younger you are the more you have to pay into the general fund.

So on and so forth. And I am sorry but along with this we would have to cut government pensions drastically. They are completely absurd.

If we followed my plan there would be little to no need for them.

I can hear the cries "we pay into those" do the math it's not sustainable. The government comes out of pocket for a large percentage. Add what your "paying" into your pension to your privatized retirement and retire with well over $2m in the bank.

      Welcome to my world

Looks like the DNC will do everything it can to have Hillary their nominee.

Honestly, it's not looking good for any of the Republican party hopefuls.

I didn't think it could get any worse than Obama but I might be wrong!

Anyone but Hillary. Since it's Calif, I'm voting Sanders.

That's the primary, and last I heard it's only for registered democrats.

In the general it'll probably be straight R v D, but one can only hope for a split Democratic vote.

I'll be voting for the candidate that holds Liberty as their primary political value. And there hasn't been a Republican or Democrat presidential candidate that's met that criteria for a long time (With the exception of Ron and Rand Paul).

At a certain point the lesser of 2 evils doesn't cut it, and I cannot vote for someone like Trump or Rubio then continue to call myself a conservative. But having said all that, Cruz isn't all that bad. Lol.

It's never a waste to vote your conscience. IMHO virtually every problem today with government is the result of the masses voting for the lesser of 2 evils.

I'm voting Hillary at this point. She had the most experience. Sanders is really saying some good things, though. I like all the free stuff, so there's that. Maybe Hillary will evolve. That'll be my vote in the primary. In the general election it'll be whoever has an R next to their name.

I think that's another myth that nobody cares..... all politicians care about social security and Medicare, but they are TERRIFIED of them.

Obamacare is a perfect example of why: the minute anybody tries to fix something, they get blamed for all of it's inherent problems. Some kind of private system like the ACA is what's needed, but it needs better teeth and the ability to force Big Drug to negotiate reasonable prices. No poltician will go near those two because there is no easy solution and they don't want to have to take the blame for the mess that follows. It's always safer to stay with the mess we have now.

You wouldn't believe how many people live off social security. Even if theat isn't their total income, it's a big part and people are scared to death the government is going to take it away.

The reason is so many "private" retirement funds have done just that. Courts ruled it was legal for them to arbitrarily cut pensions and/or medical benefits because the payouts would be too costly..... talk about getting screwed. You retire after 30 years on a fixed pension only to find out they can cut it as much as they want. Every time anybody talks about SS reform, the old guys freak out.

Old guys..... I'm one of them.

Whomever you vote for if the are pro citizenship for illegals, eventually they will out vote you 1000 to 1. Mostly on how they can get hold of your tax money for free goodies for themselves. So essentially you are voting to have your future votes not count.

Reagan's amnesty is why both Californian government houses are overwhelmingly democratic. Republicans can no longer block any legislation.

If you want the whole country that way, then by all means invite the world's poor and ignorant to vote in our elections for free handouts.

Another myth? I think we are doing that thing where we are saying the same thing. Im talking about the gdneral public. There should be millions of youths in the street rioting. I go around ranting to anyone who will listen.
Thd problem with Obamacare is that its fundamentAlly flawed but i wont go down that path.

I just gave a viable alternative. Freaking out to freak out is not the answer. And i am fairly certain that my 401k cannot arbitrarily take my money. Its my money. You are talking about private pensions

Pensions are not the answer! Erase them from your memory! How can we pay the whole workforce and another entire ghost workforce when the whole entity produces nothing? Not viable!

Once he wins the nomination there will be no more bible thumping so its a moot point.

Is your obamacare line rhetoric? Because there are tons of realistic alternatives.

Net Neutrality is actually a bad thing. There aren't many issues that are more misunderstood by the public. Stefan Molyneux has a pretty good hour long video on the subject. Highly recommend it. https://youtu.be/5Z_nBhfpmk4
