The whole "Made in the USA" thing only goes so far. Maybe it's made in the US but the raw materials came from overseas. Then what?

Most cars that are built in the US have Asian or European parts in them.

Chrysler might make all it's US market cars in either Canada, US or Mexico but they are owned by Fiat, an Italian company. Does that make their vehicles any worse or better?

We live in a global economy these days. Do I try to buy US made when I can? Sure. Do I lose sleep over owning something that wasn't made here? Nope.

naw, i'll save jobs worth saving.

if some foreign dude/dudette can build a better gun than an american person, i'll be buying that foreign made item.

i buy for quality and the value (ie bang for buck), not nationalism.

Honestly, this is the same tired argument as parents who are outraged at Asian American kids for making schools "too competitive".

It's not like Samsung, LG, Sony, Honda, etc. got to the top of their game by lowering standards. They built up a hard-earned reputation to the point where they can basically dictate whatever price they want and people will buy their products. Bill Wilson of Wilson Combat is a great example.

You want me to buy American made (from start to finish) products, then show me a competitive product. I can understand wanting to keep Americans employed. But why would I work 40+ hours a week, and spend my hard-earned cash, to keep someone else employed to manufacture a substandard product?

Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe people don't buy American made guns like Ruger, Smith and Wesson, or Colt, is because....they don't have what the customer wants?

I'd buy more American guns if I actually lived in America and could.

I suggest the OP take an economics class. The US is no longer a producing market. We are pure importation market now. This has been caused largely by unions. When workers are overpaid and manufacturers have to make it work, they tend to sacrifice quality. The supply/demand curve will show that consumers interest will tank at a certain price point. When quality goes down and prices are still high, where are consumers supposed to go?
Yeah I can spend $1,000 on a colt that is so-so in quality or I can buy a glock for 40% less with the same quality.

Furthermore, what IS more American? Paying more money and getting less due to nationalism? How about paying a fair price for what we expect?

                      ding ding; roster.

can always buy a used pistol and new barrel.... but it doesn't really help 'buy american' to buy used... so it doesn't matter much imo.

Excuse me but is not Beretta a foreign company? What about FN and Benelli?

All our police seem to love Glock a foreign company.

Beretta moved (is moving?) from Maryland to Tennessee.

                            FNH in Virginia.

Glock has it US headquarters in Georgia.

Going back 30 years, without competition from Europe, we would still be shooting 1911s
