Everybody was acting like Stag LPK's would soon be impossible to get. So I tried ordering 2 LPK's from the Stag web page about 2 weeks ago, and they just shipped. That didn't take long, and it was better than paying $150+ each to get them right away.

Panic buying dying down?

If people would quit defending the shops that are gouging and claiming it's just economics then we might get somewhere. I really think if we can start calling out the gougers and the newbs and lurkers see that then maybe we'd get some more informed buyers, which helps us as buyers. But some folks here would defend the gouging shops like they do the Constitution or something, which I can't understand for the life of me.Comment

LOL. Just don't participate and spend your money wisely! If people would quit defending the shops that are gouging and claiming it's just economics then we might get somewhere. Everyone has the right to set their prices how they want. Not just shops, but private sellers too. Damn straight we should defend people's rights to sell what they want for what they want. You do like capitalism and not socialism right?
And you have seen quite a bit of informed buying on Calguns. There are threads all the time that share when people have parts and for what prices. And that is all you have to do and what you have been doing.
It is also interesting to note how quick some of these places sell out once the message spreads online. That is to be expected.
If you don't want to be gouged, then don't buy something at that price. Tell your friends not to buy something at that price. If someone wants to buy something at that price, that is fine too. You guys talk as if it is some big fairness issue or something. This isn't a socialist country and we are not in the 4th grade anymore. People are adults and are free to spend their money how they wish. That is a fact.
You are also free to shop around, get a good deal, and pass that information on to others. Which people have been doing. I don't see why we need all of the drama in between.
I guess it might be due to the fact that the sudden panic caught many people off guard and despite how much they hate the increase in price, they still have the wants and can't find what they want anywhere for the prices of October.
Has the panic buying died down? Maybe just a little as there is not much left to sell. I am still staying busy though and when uppers start to come back in stock, they fly off the shelves. I don't think it is going to die down completely within the next few months.Last edited by tenpercentfirearms; 12-18-2008, 5:38 AM.www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. The gouging shops annoy me too. I remember hearing that all Glocks would be gone soon. I see a whole bunch of them at the local shops. I'm not going to shop with people who think I'm an idiot. Some people will defend the gouging shops, but apparently, not capitalism. If people would quit defending the shops that are gouging and claiming it's just economics then we might get somewhere. My two local shops, City Arms and Tabor's, haven't done any kind of gouging. In fact, some of the prices are now cheaper. A case of "hard to get" .223 is $25 less than what I paid for it a year ago. It can't be that hard to get if everyone has plenty of it.

All the Glocks are gone from the wholesalers. I had just got in my Glock stocking order as the panic started so I still have quite a few Glocks. I also just ordered 40,000 rounds of .223 ammo, but the price certainly wasn't cheaper than the last batch. You will find quite frequently I have old ammo on my shelves from 2-3 years ago that I still haven't changed to new pricing. Only the old ammo is still cheap and when I go to buy more, the price will increase because the cost of ammo has gun up significantly since I bought it last. I just got in some Winchester WIN223R1 .223 55 grain. I bought it when we first opened and I just got it for $3 more a box than three years ago.The gouging shops annoy me too. That is what I am warning you guys about. If you see good deals at your local gun shop, jump on them. The little shops no one knows about might still have good deals. Once they are gone though, check and see how long it might take until they get in some more and how much it is going to cost.
I promise you this isn't hype. I am smack dab in the middle of this mess and the supply chain is limited right now. Things are slowing filtering through, but the demand is still out there. My prices have not gone up much, but when the items go on the shelves, it doesn't last long at all because of it and then I am back to a long wait.www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. Demand doesn't matter much. There is nothing at the distributor's the customer wants. It's all gone. I was lucky enough to buy two G27s from one distributor. They said they just came in a half hour before I called. Of course I snatched them up. I am using one as fodder for a trade to get a DE .50 and the other to sell.
All the AR15 stuff is a long ways off. I can't build rifles or pistols and I have dozens of orders pending but can't get parts to build them.Comment

If the constant crowds at J&R in Livermore are any indication of demand, I'd say we haven't hit 'peak demand', yet.

I have not felt the pain of panic buying or the high prices because
I refuse to buy anything right now
If you NEED something and dont mind spending the inflated price... so be it. For me... im set. The things I dont have that I "need" .... I can wait on.sigpic

I remember
92-94 all I could get for reloading 308 was 150gr flatpoints(for 30-30) and shooting them one at a time in an M1A and the only .224 heads I could get were 55gr. psp in bulk (8,000).Shot alot of psp`s in those days. The supply didn`t get back to normal(if you call higher prices normal) until 3 years later. Those of you who think that this will all be over in a month or two are in for a surprise. All the Glocks are gone from the wholesalers. I had everything I needed way before the election, but there's always something I want to buy. I just make sure that I shop around first.

Wes,
Any thoughts on getting your site up and running again? Or are you still focusing on your regional market?
Thanks,
