But....the majority will always have an excuse as to why they do not join. Heck, I offered to sign up and pay for four people for a year membership here on CalGuns and not ONE person took me up in it!!! One guys excuse was he did not accept charity?!?!?!

So again...to all the whiners....your the problem by not joining the ONE organization that can stop the anti's. So when the order comes to turn in all your semi auto's and your whining that no one tried to stop it....just look in the mirror and have some self awareness and know you did it to yourself.
That is awesome of you. If I would have seen that I would have jumped all over it! Right now I only do the annual renewal so I'm good through next June or July, but you better believe I'm trying to figure out how to just do a lifetime membership. Sometimes I get frustrated with the calls and Mail asking for donations but only because I can't afford it most of the time, but I will support as much as I can because without the NRA I probably never would have had the chance to ever own a gun

Not only have I belonged to the NRA since 1972 but I join whatever state firearms association exists in whatever state I happen to live in. CRPA may not be perfect but there is strength in numbers. Plus it counts for a club membership for the CMP!

Gun and accessories makers donate to the NRA. If you've bought stuff, you've supported the NRA indirectly. That probably encompasses everyone on this board and "vast majority of gun owners", since some would have only purchased used guns.

Funny... that's exactly the point I was making. Worked 33 years as an engineer, never worked for a boss who gave a crap about my "efforts", just wanted to know what got accomplished. I guess that is a strange concept these days....

You're right, the NRA has accomplished nothing and done nothing. That is why they are feared by every anti-gun politician and why anti-gun groups are trying to destroy them.

If you don't want to join and just want to complain and piggyback off the efforts of others that is your right, but just answer this question, what have you accomplished on your own in the battle for our gun rights?

For a gun owner, who is concerned about the 2A and the liberals attempts to weaken it, to NOT join the NRA is just plain moronic. It is the single, most important organization for gun owners across the nation, including CA.

I've been a Life Member for close to ten years; I bought my wife and son theirs a year after mine. And I have never regretted the cost.

Sometimes results are about what didn't happen.

The Democrats blame the NRA for them not getting gun control legislation passed through Congress.
We still have guns because the Democrats have not won on gun confiscation due to the NRA's efforts.

                        It couldn't be much simpler.

Everybody wants somebody to blame. You don't suppose the real reason could be that the GOP has a large majority in the House? No, the obvious answer is never the right one....

I agree with that, it is simple. The GOP controls congress, the GOP would sooner eat broken glass than let anything on the dem agenda pass, and that's exactly why the last 7 years have been total inaction.

Right...... it was the NRA, not the GOP majority in congress that blocked all those laws.

Interesting post.... my compliments in that you have managed to include more logical fallacies per line than any other I have seen. To answer in order:

You're right, the NRA has accomplished nothing and done nothing.
That is a classic Straw Man fallacy where you lie about what I have said and then ridicule the lie. I never said the NRA had "accomplished nothing", what I said is they have been 100% ineffective at doing anything about California's moronic gun laws, getting such laws reversed, or successfully challenging any laws.

                              NEXT:

That is why they are feared by every anti-gun politician and why anti-gun groups are trying to destroy them.
The NRA is feared because it is organized and it has a lot of money. It also enjoys a lot of support in some states.... NOT CALIFORNIA. And, as I have said a million times, the number of voters directly equals the amount of political power in any state. Hence failure in our state. Politicians only fear groups with enough voters to put them out of office. If gun owners were a majority, the laws would be changed.

If you don't want to join and just want to complain and piggyback off the efforts of others that is your right, but just answer this question, what have you accomplished on your own in the battle for our gun rights?
Classic logical fallacy: if I have not succeeded in doing X, how can I complain that somebody else has failed to do X?

                              SIMPLE:

The somebody else is claiming they will do it and also taking people's money for said goal. I never claimed to be able to reverse Kali's gun laws, in fact I have posted the numbers (of voters) which delineate why the laws are what they are. I can't change that because I don't have ten million gun owners to add to the state's voter rolls.

If you love the NRA I don't care. The point is that by any objective measure, they have not delivered in kali.

And as long as the majority of gun owners in this state act like you and refuse to organize, the NRA will never will have the power to accomplish what you expect them to do. You complain that you don't have the numbers to make some magical change and yet you seem to think that the the NRA does. Then to top it off you do everything you can to discourage and demoralize gun owners from fighting for their rights. Who needs anti-gun groups when there are gun owners like you who encourage people to give up and go hide in the corner. You want to see what is stopping us from regaining our rights, look in the mirror.
