Wow....Interesting stance refusing to do a PPT altogether. I met a fellow there last year for a transfer and we were told that we were "the last priority". It took about two hours of standing around and watching others come and go before they finally handled our paperwork. I see their point, but I hadn't scheduled my day thinking it would take anywhere near that long. It was at the sellers request to meet there because he was a frequent customer. I must say that I wasn't overly impressed with the shop when I walked in, but even less so after the transfer process.

I don't really care if a shop puts stipulations in place surrounding the process, but they are obligated to perform the service. If I'm reading it right, they can't set specific hours or charge more than the $35 transfer fee. If they want to charge you for storing the gun past a certain time when you can pick it up, that's their deal and I really don't have a problem with that if it's explained up front.

I would have smiled and said very politely:

"You don't really understand how the internet works, do you?"

          AND WALKED OUT.

Well, as some businesses decide to not do business - it opens up opportunity for those of us who may want to get back into that business and do it right. Let 'em keep screwing up like that and when they can't make their lease payments or pay their employees, someone will come along and buy up their inventory and start fresh.

Bottom line, they don't want to have their valuable minimum wage employees spending their time on PPTs.
The funniest thing about TM, is that they created their own paperwork on top of the required stuff, and end up having their employees wasting a ton of time for every transaction.

No he doesnt know how technology works either. I told him he should post that on his Webpage and he said his IT guy walked out on him and he cant update his webpage...so i said, you have an email list, you could send it out there...to which he said I also don't have access to that.

                After which I walked out...

                *facepalm*

I would never do a PPT at Reeds because of their extortion storage fees.

I would not recommend Bay Area Gun Vault either as they lost me as a potential customer when I first called for pricing on some new guns and they would not disclose it over the phone.
I highly recommend going to Metal Dog or some other place with more customer service. BAGV prices was always expensive and they act like their time was more important than mine. There is no customer service at BAGV. I went in twice and never stepped into their shop again.

The rep I spoke with stated that they want the DOJ to step in and level the playing field before they resume PPT's.

I have mixed feelings on this, but can understand why this is an issue and what they are trying to do even if I don't like how they are doing it.
Seems odd to be upset at competitors sending customer foot traffic one's way?

They had to make their own paperwork to incorporate the ILLEGAL requirement of 11 day waiting period so that you legally agree to it when you sign the sales agreement.

First, the 11 day wait isn't "ILLEGAL". There are plenty of real reasons that shop sucks, so there's no reason to lie or make something up about a store policy being illegal.

Second, it wouldn't be "ILLEGAL" if you agreed to it, so you aren't even making any sense.

Third, their idiotic self-inflicted paperwork isn't solely for the 11 day wait agreement. If they just wanted it for that, all they would need to do is ask you to sign a far simpler sheet of paper stating you understand they won't hand it over till day 11. There are lots of other gun shops including at least 1 fairly good size sporting goods store chain that also have 11 day waits and do not have the same nonsense that TM does.

The 11 day wait portion of that is one line(specifically 2A near the top). If you bothered to look at that idiotic mess of word salad, you would see the supervisor/manager approvals toward the bottom(biggest part of what takes so damn long) in addition to their silly photocopy and doodle with highlighters game, and who knows how many other silly forms.
