Avoid Bay Area Gun Vault

Well it was already like 7something pm and we were running out of options for PPT places last night. The seller wanted BAGV and when that fell through we had reeds and bass pro still open. I don't blame bass pro for following policy, it was just an annoyance really.sigpicComment

got ya. If I had to choose between Reeds or basspro, I'd gone to Basspro too.Well it was already like 7something pm and we were running out of options for PPT places last night. it's just sad that out all the shops around the south bay only a few are GTG.

I would still go to bass pro for a PPT...however I know now that they require a bit more than the normal shop. They were courteous and professional about it so I have no beef with them. However it would be nice if they posted that somewhere for people to reference.sigpicComment

It is not just the gun shops, it's all the retail businesses.
Valco & Eastridge Malls and others are now being referred to as giant warehouses for Amazon.
In your Dad's day the, 'Customer was always right'.
In survival days, 'it's spend your time with the customers that spend the most money or you will go broke'.
I see the issue from both sides and do business with the most reasonable people.Comment

Called BAGV and they confirmed they are refusing all PPT's at the moment out of protest. Their belief is that other shops in their area, including US Firearms, Imbert and Smithers, and Reeds, are either already refusing PPT's, charging ridiculous storage fees to drive away PPT'ers, or are specifically directing their PPT's over to BAGV. The rep I spoke with stated that they want the DOJ to step in and level the playing field before they resume PPT's.
I have mixed feelings on this, but can understand why this is an issue and what they are trying to do even if I don't like how they are doing it.Last edited by Wildhawk66; 12-03-2015, 12:31 PM.Comment

If I have anything to say about it the DOJ will step in and either force them to comply with CA LAW or have their FFL revoked. What they're doing is illegal.Called BAGV and they confirmed they are refusing all PPT's at the moment out of protest. MPA is a great shop and I do a lot of business there. That said, his appointment system and layout isn't particularly conducive to PPT's.Comment

DOJ will be glad to take your complaint, be glad to take any opportunity to brake the chops on any local gun shop, be glad to put more names including yours in their Database, and be glad to throw another spike strip in the way of anyone else thinking about buying guns the legitimate way. Appreciate the effort. If I have anything to say about it the DOJ will step in and either force them to comply with CA LAW or have their FFL revoked. What they're doing is illegal.Comment

Yeah, I get that. You might step back and look at the forest for the trees though. PPT monkey business has been increasing at south bay gun stores for about a year now and the better shops like BAGV have simply had to absorb what other shops have already been turning away (I have been boycotting Reeds since they implemented their ridiculous storage fee to push out PPT's). If BAGV's protest works, we will all be better off and BAGV will apparently willingly resume PPT's on their own. Sucks for us in the short-term, but we there is a bigger picture here that needs to be considered.Comment

Ugh, you make a good point, however this is how places get away with things...DOJ will be glad to take your complaint, be glad to take any opportunity to brake the chops on any local gun shop, be glad to put more names including yours in their Database, and be glad to throw another spike strip in the way of anyone else thinking about buying guns the legitimate way. And yeah, that is a good point as well..i have boycotted reeds for years for a handful of reasons but I guess I just have to sit and boycott yet another shopYeah, I get that. The impression that I got in talking with BAGV was that they are expecting complaints to the DOJ and fully expecting what they are doing to be an issue with those guys. Sounds like they see it as an opportunity to make their point to the powers that be. I have to think there are better ways to do that than by intentionally making your shop non-compliant with the law, but hey, it's their shop.DOJ will be glad to take your complaint, be glad to take any opportunity to brake the chops on any local gun shop, be glad to put more names including yours in their Database, and be glad to throw another spike strip in the way of anyone else thinking about buying guns the legitimate way.
