    Avoid Bay Area Gun Vault

I don't usually out a business but wanted to make sure the forum was aware of the shady business practices that they're doing. My main thread can be found here:

but I wanted to post a comment here as well because I don't think everybody reads the FFL forum.

to nutshell it. They're not doing PPT's anymore...even though they're required to by law. I wasted a bunch of my time last night meeting somebody there only to be turned away...the seller drove from morgan hill to mountain view mind you. We need to send a message to shops like BAGV. Sure, you can act in an ILLEGAL manner but you're going to lose business because of it. I will never spend another cent at BAGV and would encourage the Calguns community in the bay area to not buy anything from them either.

I have seen some gun shops not do PPTs because their safes were full. That is because people don't come in after the 10 day waiting period. They wait for the full 30 days before picking up their guns.

THat was not the case here. The owner told me "im tired of other shops sending PPT's to me because i don't charge fees...so therefore I'm not doing PPT's at all for anybody period"

BATF has nothing to do with California laws. Waste of time to contact them.

There seems to be a growing bad attitude growing in South Bay gun shops.
Reed's has their extortion charge starting on hour 25 past the 240 hours (10 days) now this.
I'm in Contra Costa County and as far as I'm concerned, if you won't meet me at Jackson Arms, you might as well be in San Diego.
Yes, I know Metal Dog rocks as well as a few other but sheesh.
              Good luck down there.

Yeah I'm going to be contacting the CADOJ on this one...i doubt they'll do anything but what he's doing is grounds for having his FFL revoked.

Why not sue them in small claims court for damages since law mandates that they do PPT?
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

If I had the time and money I would...but I don't... so I figure the next best thing I can do is lodge a complaint with the CADOJ and get my fellow Bay Area CG brothers and sisters to avoid spending money there which will hurt his bottom line.

I've never done a PPT there but have made a few purchases there in the past. I've had good experiences from them and have enjoyed their shop but I'm certainly sorry to hear of their change in this policy - hope it gets corrected.

BTW - Where you able to complete the PPT elsewhere and if so, where?

Post a review on Yelp, Google reviews and whatever comes up when you Google their name. A lot of their business is from the tech world that will most like read these reviews. I have had hit or misses with them and their owner seems like a real piece of work and is full of himself.

Well we went to bass pro san jose to do the PPT...however we couldnt complete it there either because Bass Pro has a corporate policy of both the seller AND the buyer must show an FSC to do the transfer which is not required by CA State law but it is for bass pro. the seller did not have the FSC card so We gave up after that and are rescheduling. Keep that in mind if anybody uses bass pro...they'll require both to have the FSC or a hunting licence

See Peter at MPARms in San Jose. His hours are limited and by appointment only but he is a great guy to work with. You will be in and out in 10 minutes.
