When did you buy it? Their current production rifles have been known to show up to dealers already rusted.

I just stepped away from kimber at all cost, i owned one and thats enough for me. There are far better options out there for 1911..Comment

Im gonn'a defend Kimber here. I have owned over 30 Kimber hand guns and have never had a rust issue. My ultra CDP and RCP 2's dont have an issue with rust at all. My Ultra CDP has been in the rain a couple of times and was cleaned after.
I have owned most of the 1911 makes like , Springfield, Kimber, Dan Wesson, Sig Sauer, Colt, Christian Arms, Bear, Wilson and I think you get the point by now. I cant really say a bad thing about any of them besides some are stupid expensive.
Just clean your Kimber, it will be a happy Kimber, or sell it to me.

I'll join this party......I like Kimbers because of the close tolerance, reliability (my 3 Kimbers are), features, and price (at least on the basic Custom IIs).
As to the rust issue, on my 3 Kimbers I have not experienced any. I HAVE SEEN in an LGS 3 specimen of Kimbers with a smidgen of light rust on the front of their barrels. In perspective, I have seen more or less over one hundred Kimbers WITHOUT rust.Comment

Less than two years ago, sent from Buds. When did you buy it? Their current production rifles have been known to show up to dealers already rusted.

And one rifle does not make a, "Known" condition.
But I still thank you for the heads up.Last edited by nedro; 11-20-2015, 9:23 AM.Comment

I bought an Sig TTT brand new. I've put around 1000 rnds through it. FTF's have become less prevalent but it fails to lock on every mag. Installed a WC bullet proof slide stop. Haven't tested that yet but we'll see. My wife's Kimber Custom Eclipse II bought at the same time has had 0 mals and no rust issue's. I've read about the Sig 1911 issue's and the Klmber issue's. I've also read posts like the one above for many different brands. Fwiw I think it's a crap shoot with a 1911 unless you go the EB, LB, custom etc route. Not pushing for this or that just saying.Comment

All True^^^^^^^^> AND you all know that "JDay" is a Kimber hater, so he'll trash the brand any way he can, ignoring the fact that there are tens of thousands of Kimbers sold without any " issue " and there are tens of thousands of satisfied and happy Kimber owners....... and that's no hype.
