Kimber rusting issues screwed me...

I always wanted to carry 45acp but not thrilled with the weight since all i have are all full size pistol.. Now i look around and found this kimber ultra CDP II that has a 3"barrel and has a considerably tolerable weight maximum i can carry.. I heard about barrel getting rusted here and there but i never really paid attention to it since this is a brand new pistol and assuming all those issues before has been resolved by kimber already. I bought her and few shots down the pipe then back to the box coz i decided to clean her later that week. After 2 weeks i have noticed that bothe sides of the grip safeTy bump has rust on it.. I looked into the barrel and cleaned it, its clear and clean so far. Just the grip safety bump showing a little bit of discoloration and on its side surely rusting.. This part of the gun is not even bare metal, its coated somehow still rusting .. What should i do? Anybody have the same experience?

Stop buying Kimber. Polymer doesn't rust 😀

Of my 5 Kimbers, I have not had this problem. Probably because I clean and oil my firearms after every use. I have carried my Pro Carry II for months without any rust.

Clean your gun and oil it and you won't have rust issues.

Kimber is all hype. They're cheap mass produced 1911s. Sig makes a fine 1911 for less.

I don't like polymer pistols but when I got my CCW I bought one so I don't care about rusting and weight . A smaller full metal frame is no where near polymer.
I'm so happy with it that I decided to get another polymer gun for plinking and training , I don't have to care about scratches or rust and I can put micro red dot on it.Calgunners advised me to get a polymer gun and I didn't regret it.

why the hell Sigs or other full metal frames don't have this issue?,Kimber is expensive and they should make it out of a better metal quality.Youtube is full with rusty kimbers.

Flitz polish to take off the rust. Will not harm the finish.
I carried one of these shorties for about 6 years. Good little piece.

Kimber's metal\rusting has been known issue for awhile.

XDS is polymer. No rust and weights less. Kimber is great if it's not rusting. Unfortunately you weren't as fortunate with it. Explore other options. They are a plenty. Glock, HK, Springfield, etc. Even other make 1911 models.

I have one pro carry ii stainless and one custom. Neither have had any issues but as previously stated, I oil and clean it all the time

was looking at handguns at turners and the employees were telling me that kimber is having quality issues and are rusting while sitting in the store

Flame off! No flame retardant clothing needed.

The rusting carry pistol syndrome doesn't affect just Kimbers.
My first carry pistol was an AMT Hardballer. It rusted.
Stainless rusts from 1 degree to another.
I just took appropriate steps and adjusted my maintenance regime accordingly. Zero rust.
It's was just a little carnauba wax in the right places with a microfiber clothe.
