I find this to be a double edged sword. I admit to having a sickness that cant be cured without buying guns but I tend to keep it to myself as they carry value (not one or two but lets say a few) to tempting thief's. All it takes is one person to tell the wrong person and you have just become a target. Now this is not an issue on the forum but in face to face conversation, its an issue. I always tell my family "its nobody's business I have guns" and lets not spread the word.

A "target" of whom? Thieves? We already know they fear armed homeowners more than unarmed ones? Plus, the value of "most" people's collections is well less that the value of say a car. You wouldn't fail to admit you own a car would you? In light of the fact that it is IMPORTANT for our rights to get the word out there that "normal" people like we actually own guns! As pointed out above, people fear that which they do not know. You don't think that folks in small rural towns in south claim they don't own guns do you? Of course they own guns. EVERYONE down there does. That which is "normal" is not feared.

          Be a proud gun owner.

              8 guns the average?

Depends on the part of the country you live in:

8 guns in Texas = Starter Kit

8 guns in CA = Menace to Society

BTW - I'm way above ave (guns that is)

8.1 guns, that is just a start.

According to the 2006 poll I'm a 1%'er, in that poll Top 1% own >26 guns.

Article also states the number of households owning has dropped from 50% in 70's to 32% today. What does that tell you?

Well, I must be on the no fly list if 8.1 is average.

Eight point one? How cool is that! On average everybody has a build going on.

Households owning guns probably dropped in states like California, where the government is openly hostile to firearms ownership. Other states in fly over country, not so much.

Huh. Well, do black powder guns count?

Because, I'm sad to say, with only five rifles, two shotguns and one handgun my I'm just about (slightly below!) average if they don't And that is unacceptable.

If they do count though, well, then I'm damn near exceptional
So I was driving home from the range and I noticed that the scent of warm steel, burnt gunpowder and lukewarm coffee combined and smelled oddly of... Peanut butter?! Man, the Hoppe's is going to my head.

Looks like I'm above average.... Or maybe I'm not.
It doesn't matter how scary, ugly, uncomfortable, or inconvenient self defense can be. Like it or not, you will never, ever be relieved of your duty and responsibility to defend your life, your family, your country and your freedom.

How much ammo do I need? Enough to last me the rest of my life, and then lot more for later.

The government does not come knocking at your door. It comes knocking down your door.
